Dudley Table Tennis league has recognised John Cheadle's effort in supporting table tennis by formally renaming the handicap cup after him.
Shaun Holmes presented the below proposal at the Dudley League AGM on Wednesday 12th July:
The Handicap Cup is designed to encourage new and upcoming players to develop their game throughout the course of a season in an attempt to win Silverware. Mr Cheadle has dedicated many years to supporting the rise of talented youth players within the Dudley League, I feel that his dedication to the sport needs to be recognised and that including his name onto the cup is the best form of appreciation.
The proposal was seconded by Adrian Argile of Hanbury Table Tennis Club and passed with a majority vote. From next season, the cup will be known as 'The John Cheadle Handicap Cup'
The club would like to pass congratulations to John on his recognition from the Dudley League and thank him for the continued support he offered to the sport for 40+ years.
