Members Update August 2018

Site Access / Parking

Security arrangements at the Pens Meadow campus are changing following the summer break. All members will now required to park on the top car park and use the pedestrian gate to gain access to the sports hall. The security code used on the vehicle gate is no longer in operation however if vehicle access is ever required, please speak to Mark Nicholls to arrange.

As a result of increased site rental fees, the clubs committee have recently reviewed and agreed amendment to fees. With effect from start of September, the below fees will be in place for Adult / Junior coaching and practice sessions.

Adults Practice: £3.50

Adults Coaching: £5

Juniors Practice: £2.50

Juniors coaching: £3.50

Winter Schedule

The winter season is fast approaching with a number of leagues already advertising their fixtures for the coming season. The club will therefore move to its Winter schedule starting Wednesday 12thSeptember. Our winter schedule will see matches played out of the venue on both Wednesday and Thursday evenings. It is planned that a small number of tables will be available for open practice on a Wednesday evening for our members to use. On a Thursday, the club will continue to host Junior (7:30pm) and Adult (8:30pm) coaching sessions in one end of the hall. A couple of practice tables will be available on a first come, first served basis with members recommended to check availability with Mark.

At this time I would like to remind our members of each teams responsibility to setup / put down equipment during scheduled match nights. Each team needs to support this approach so please suitable time to put up equipment to allow matches to commence at 7:30pm. The club understands that people have personal commitments outside of the club so if people envisage challenges in arriving early, please speak to a member of the clubs committee. We find our club members very good at supporting each other so reciprocal arrangement to setup / putdown can often be arranged.

For the coming season, we will have a number of additional key holders removing some of the dependency we had previously on a small number of individuals. Any new team captains will be invited to meet with a member of the clubs committee to familiarise themselves with the clubs setup / put down procedure. It is imperative that club equipment is put away correctly for both security purposes and to ensure our relationship with the venue hirer is maintained.
