Division 1

Leaders Lions B opened up a commanding 5 point lead at the top of the 1st Division following a crushing 8-2 win over Lions A, who are 2nd.

The defeated A side once more were missing Ben Foss and Jez Powell and 2nd Division reserves Luke Bichard and Andy Gill filled the void. Joshua Butler and Olly Langlois were on point in the fixture and each picked up wins in their singles encounters over Phil Ogier, Bichard and Gill. Ogier extended both players to 4 sets and Gill also managed to win the opener against Langlois before losing in 4. Ryan Bichard managed to earn a hard fought 4 game win over his younger brother Luke and he also came through 3 tightly contested ends against Gill. Ogier comfortably defeated Ryan and he teamed up with Luke to earn a decent 4 game doubles win over the pairing of Butler and Ryan.

Whistlers A occupy 3rd position in the league and they ran out narrow 6-4 winners over Whistlers C this week. Garry Dodd continues to display superb local form and continued his unbeaten start to Division 1 singles action with straight game wins over Joshua Stacey, Lawrence Stacey and reserve Derek Webb. Mark Pipet and Phil Hunkin added straight game wins over Webb and it was the team of Dodd and Pipet that came through the crunch doubles match against the Stacey twins in straight games. Both Joshua and Lawrence each defeated Pipet and Hunkin in straight games, meaning that every single match in the encounter was decided 3-0.

The side at the foot of the table, Lions C, earned only their 3rd set of points of the season after they scrapped to a 5-5 draw with 4th placed side Whistlers B. Paul Hainsworth led the way strongly for the Lions side due to him earning 3 singles wins, the first time this has happened thus far this season. He started off with commanding straight game wins over reserve Matthew Casey and Dawn Morgan, but left his best to last whilst his team was trailing 5-4. He was up against Alice Loveridge who had only lost 2 singles matches in the league to Dodd prior to the fixture. Hainsworth was up against it while trailing 2-1, but he had the belief and battled through to win in 5 and earn the important notable scalp. Liam Robilliard added victories over Morgan and Casey in 4 games to contribute towards the draw. The Lions side will rue missed chances in the doubles encounter where Hainsworth and Robilliard had led Loveridge and Morgan 2-1 before being edged out in 5. All members of the Whistlers team defeated Andre De Carteret, including Casey, who came back from 2-1 down to win in 5.

Division 2

Lions D managed to hold onto their single point lead at the top after their match with 2nd placed side Lions F ended in a 5-5 stalemate. Martin Sarre and Andy Gill managed to obtain the 5 wins between them on the night. Sarre beat juniors Dan Collenette and Luke Bichard in 4 games, whilst Gill came through against Bichard and Jamie Ferbrache, also both in 4 games. The duo then combined to win the pivotal doubles clash over Collenette and Bichard, once more in 4 games. The 1 match that did go the distance was claimed by Ferbrache over Sarre and he also beat Ian Le Page in straight games. Collenette beat Gill in 4 and Le Page in straight games and Bichard added a straight game win over Le Page.

The Division will be split into half following the completion of next week's matches, with the top 6 teams comprising of Division 2 and the bottom 6 making up Division 3 for the remainder of the season. There is a crunch match between Whistlers G and Ravenscroft Panthers B next week and one of these sides will earn the 6th and final spot in Division 2.

Division 4

Lions I extended their lead at the top to 6 points after a 7-3 win over title rivals Lions J this week. Andy Ferbrache and Sue Ferbrache picked up wins over Mike Brehaut, Lynn Finn and Bolette Hjorth to make sure of the points. They also paired to win the doubles against Brehaut and Finn in straight games. Each of the beaten J side earned consolation singles wins over Sophie Ferbrache.

Division 5

Lions L and Whistlers O remain locked on level points at the top and it is still the Lions side leading by games ratio.

The Lions side cruised to an 8-2 win this week and Graham Mallett and Janine Mallett both picked up their 3 with wins over Ben Sharp, Caden Brouard and reserve Chris Mourant. They also teamed up in the doubles during a 4 game win over Sharp and Brouard. Derek Cave added a win over Mourant in 4, but he lost to Sharp and Brouard in tightly contested 5 set matches.
