Senior League Report Week 20
Division 3
With all other Divisions either finished or the top 2 spots already sealed, the 3rd Division was the last Division to identify the top 2 spots, a feat that was reached this week.
Lions G have been crowned champions and they earned the title courtesy of a comprehensive 9-1 win over Lions I this week.
Averages topper Jamie Ferbrache has impressed this season throughout his matches in the 3rd division and reserve appearances in Division 2. He showed his class again in this encounter with straight game wins over Jan Priest, BoletteHjorth and reserve Rose Powell. Andrew Ferbrache has also had a good return to the sport and also converted 3 singles wins on the night, dropping just 1 leg in both of this matches against Powell and Priest. Jamie and Andrew teamed on the evening to beat the combination of Priest and Hjorth in the doubles clash, without loss. Sophie Ferbrache has also chipped in with some important wins and she added another 2 during this fixture. She beat Priest in 4 games and Powell in 5 games, having earlier lost out to Hjorth in straight games.
Lions H needed a slip from the champions to be in with a shout going into the final round of matches next week, but they will still finish comfortably as runners-up, a 10 point gap currently in place between them and 3rd placed side St Pauls B.
The side is finishing with a flourish as consecutive 10-0 whitewashes were followed up by a comfortable 7-3 win this week, Whistlers I the opposition to face the full force of the Lions side.
Theo Lepp has performed well this season and he beat Miles Bishop-White and Daisy Kershaw in straight games before coming through a humdinger with the ever improving junior Dan Collenette in 5 games. Peter Powell lost to Collenette in a 5 game opener, but recovered well during straight game wins over Bishop-White and Kershaw. Reserve Lionel Jones added a straight game win over Kershaw, but lost to both Collenette and Bishop-White in straight and 4 games respectively. Leppand Powell teamed to defeat Collenette and Kershaw in a straight game doubles triumph.
