Division 1

Lions B extended their lead at the top of the 1^st Division once more this week and now lead by 8 points from the chasing pack of Whistlers A and Lions A.

They comprehensively beat Whistlers C 8-2 this week in a fixture where Joshua Butler and Olly Langlois were unbeaten. Langlois showed his class with straight game wins over Joshua Stacey, Lawrence Stacey and reserve Derek Webb, whereas Butler had a much tougher evening and despite beating Webb without loss, he needed the full 5 sets to overcome the twins in his other singles matches. Ryan Bichard beat Webb in 4 and also combined with Langlois to see off the challenge of the Stacey twins in the doubles clash in straight games. Joshua and Lawrence each overcame Bichard in straight games to prevent the brush.

Whistlers A have moved into 2^nd position following a slip-up by the side previously in 2^nd, Lions A.

The Whistlers outfit were never in danger during their 7-3 win over a depleted Whistlers B side missing their key player, Alice Loveridge. Garry Dodd continues to steam through his opposition this season and cruised past Dawn Morgan, Chloe Le Tissier and reserve Ryan Gilson in straight games. Mark Pipet picked up wins over Le Tissier and Gilson in straight games and also teamed with Dodd to see off the team of Morgan and Le Tissier 3-0 in the doubles rubber. Phil Hunkin extended the margin of victory courtesy of a 4 game win over Gilson, however he was beaten by both Morgan and Le Tissier in 4 games. Morgan picked up a 2^nd singles win on the night after she beat Pipet in straight games.

Lions A returned to a full strength side for the first time since 18^th November, however they were surprisingly held to a 5-5 draw by the side at the bottom of the table, Lions C. The C side upset the odds courtesy of an excellent display from Liam Robilliard throughout the evening where he won all 3 of his singles matches. He beat Phil Ogier in 5, Jez Powell in 4 and Ben Foss in 4. The latter victory over junior Foss included an incredible turnaround in the 4^th end, whilst leading 2-1 in the match. Foss looked in absolute cruise control whilst leading 8-0 and 9-1, however Robilliard went up through the gears and played some exceptional table tennis to see him battle back and claim it 13-11. Paul Hainsworth was the other player to contribute towards the draw and he did so firstly by overturning a 2-1 deficit against Foss before winning in 5. He ended the night with a straight game win over Powell whilst his side trailed 5-4. He too came close to earning a trio of singles wins, but just fell short in 5 against Ogier. Ogier and Foss combined to win the important doubles fixture over Robilliard and Hainsworth in 4 and all members of the A side defeated Andre De Carteret.

Division 2

Lions F are the outright leaders of the 2^nd Division following completion of the 3^rd round of fixtures. Despite topping the table by a single point, they did drop points for the first time after being held to a 5-5 draw by Whistlers D. Jamie Ferbrache led by example with a strong display which included a trio of singles wins over Kay Chivers, Keith Opie and Stuart Sarre, all without dropping a set. Luke Bichard added wins over Opie in 4 and Sarre 3-0, however he did not have enough ammunition to get past Chivers, who won 3-0. The elusive 6^th win could not be found by the Lions side on this occasion and the Lions reserve Terry Trustum was beaten by all Whistlers members. The experienced doubles pairing of Chivers and Opie teamed up to clinch an important 4 game doubles win over Ferbrache and Bichard.

Division 3

Whistlers F hold a 2 point lead at the top after winning their 3^rd successive match this week. This week they defeated Ravenscroft Panthers B 8-2 in a re-arranged fixture played 3 days early. Paula Le Ber and Joseph Bourgaize did the main damage as each went unbeaten courtesy of singles wins over Peter Vivian, Steve Martin and Shaun Mosley. Daisy Kershaw added wins over Martin and Mosley, but she lost out to Vivian in what turned out to be the only Panthers singles win. The Panthers side did also obtain a consolation doubles win when Vivian and Mosley overcame Le Ber and Kershaw over the course of 4 ends.

Division 4

Lions I hold an enormous 10 point lead at the top of the 4^th Division and they were comfortable 8-2 winners over Ravenscroft Panthers C this week. Andy Ferbrache remains unbeaten in singles action and he overcame Billy Ogier, Mark Windsor and Mick Ingrouille on the night, a feat mirrored by Sue Ferbrache. Sophie Ferbrache earned a good 4 game win over Ogier, however she was beaten by both Windsor and Ingrouille. Andy and Sophie teamed to win the doubles over Ogier and Ingrouille in straight games.

Division 5

Lions L remain 3 points clear at the top after a commanding 9-1 win over Whistlers N. Graham Mallett and Derek Cave each won their singles matches over Erin De Carteret, Imogen Bishop-White and Leah Moore. Janine Mallett beat Moore and Bishop-White, however she lost to De Carteret in straight games. The Mallet’s combined to beat Moore and Bishop-White in a straight game doubles win.
