Senior League Week 20
Division 1
Lions B returned to form this week with a comfortable 8-2 win over Lions A. Olly Langlois and Josh Butler were on form as they each beat Phil Ogier and reserve Andy Gill, however Butler had to dig deep to beat the experienced Ogier, coming from 2 games down to win 11-9 in the deciding end. Ryan Bichard chipped in with a 4-game win over Gill, while Lions B obtained 3 matches via walkovers due to the 'A' team playing with a man short.
Whistlers A lost ground on the leaders as they were held to a draw by Whistlers C. Garry Dodd comfortable defeated Josh Stacey, Lawrence Stacey and James Rabey, while Mark Pipet also defeated Rabey. Dodd and Pipet combined to beat the Stacey twins in the doubles encounter but, missing Phil Hunkin, the team could not pick up the vital 6th victory.
In the bottom of the table clash between Whistlers B and Lions C it was the yellows who were victorious with an 8-2 win over a depleted Lions side. Dawn Morgan and Alice Loveridge were in commanding form and both won all of their matches 3-0. Liam Robilliard and Luke Bichard had victories over Chloe Le Tissier and were only narrowly beaten in the doubles against Loveridge and Morgan, losing out 11-8 in the 5th game.
Division 2
Lions F remain on top of Division 2 following a 7-3 victory over Lions D. 13-year old Luke Bichard lead the way with wins over Andy Gill, Ian Le Page and reserve Peter Powell. Jamie Ferbrache defeated Le Page and Powell but was narrowly edged out by Gill. Andy Ferbrache also defeated Powell, while the doubles was won by Jamie Ferbrache and Bichard in 5 games.
Lions E kept up the chase with an 8-2 win over Whistlers G with Luke Le Tissier on form with 3 wins and he was ably backed up by Tim Le Page and Terry Trustum with 2 wins apiece.
Division 3
The gap at the top of Divsion 3 is now down to 1 point after leaders Whistlers F were held to a 5-5 draw by the improving Ravenscroft Panthers A side. Joseph Bourgaize also moved back to the top of the individual averages with victories over Ben Foote, Juliette Yeaman and Ryan Wesley. Paula Le Ber added wins over Foote and Yeaman but was beaten by Wesley in 3 straight games. The Panthers trio all defeated Daisy Kershaw in close games and Foote and Wesley teamed up in a crucial doubles match to beat Bourgaize and Kershaw and seal the draw.
Whistlers E beat Lions H 6-4 to remain in contention, with 2-wins apiece for Ian Fitchet and Ryan Gilson and 1 for Charlotte Casey. Rob Vile was the star for Lions with wins over the Whistlers trio, including an impressive but close 5-game win over former average-leader Gilson.
Division 4
Lions I confirmed their position as league winners in Division 4 with a comfortable win over Lions J. Andy and Sue Ferbrache maintained their positions at the top of the averages with wins over Lionel Jones, Jan Priest and Mike Vance. Priest and Vance performed well for Lions J with wins over reserve Jenny Powell.
Division 5
The race for the Division 5 trophy looks to be going right to the wire as there is still only 1 point separating Lions L and Whistlers O. The Lions outfit were on good form as the team of Derek Cave, Graham Mallett and Janine Mallett beat Whistlers N 9-1. For Whistlers young Erin De Carteret prevented the whitewash with an impressive 4-game win over Janine Mallett.
Whistlers O beat Lions K 8-2 with Shane Cotter and Ellis Tomlin both winning their 3 matches and reserve Tia Timms picking up a win against James Le Tissier. Tomlin continues to be the stand out player in the division, as he has now won an incredible 51 matches in a row in the league, a run stretching back to the beginning of October.
