Lions B sealed the Division 1 title this week as they have a 9 point lead over 2nd place Whistlers A with only 4 matches to play.  Josh Butler and Olly Langlois were both impressive as both beat Alice Loveridge in straight games as well as picking up wins against Dawn Morgan and Chloe Le Tissier.  The Whistlers players all beat Lions' Ryan Bichard, though the 15-year old gave Loveridge a fright buy coming back from 2 games down to draw 2-2, before losing out 11-8 in the 5th game.

Whistlers A narrowly beat Lions C by 6 matches to 4.  Garry Dodd only dropped one end as he defeated Liam Robilliard, Matt Stubbington and reserve Ian Le Page as well as teaming up with the evergreen Mark Pipet to win the doubles against Stubbington and Robilliard. Pipet and Phil Hunkin both beat Le Page to keep Whistlers A on course for the runners-up spot in the league.

The middle of the table battle between Lions A and Whistlers C ended in stalemate with a 5-5 draw.  Lawrence Stacey was the form player on the night, defeating Phil Ogier, Luke Bichard and Ben Foss although he was pushed all the way by Ogier and Foss, winning both matches 11-8 in the deciding set.  Twin brother Josh also beat Foss and Bichard but was beaten by Ogier in 5 close games.  Foss and Ogier then teamed up to beat the Stacey twins in the doubles before the draw was sealed by Bichard who played well come from behind to beat James Rabey in 5 sets.

The top of Division 2 is delicately poised with 5 weeks remaining and just 2 points between the top 3 teams and it was honours even in the top of the table clash between Lions E and Lions F.  Young Luke Bichard again proved vital to the 'F' teams' chance of holding onto their lead at the top as he won his 3 matches against Carl Le Tissier, Luke Le Tissier and Tim Le Page.  He was backed up by Jamie and Andy Ferbrache who both defeated Le Page 3-2, however the crucial doubles encounter went the way of Lions E with Luke Le Tissier and Le Page defeating Jamie Ferbrache and Bichard 11-9 in the deciding game.  Luke and Carl Le Tissier were both on form with wins over Jamie and Andy Ferbrache.

3rd placed Lions D had a narrow win over St Pauls A, with Martin Sarre beating Maurice James, Chas Elliott and reserve Brian Le Cras.  He was well backed up by Ian Le Page with 2 wins and Terry Trustum who defeated Le Cras.

Whistlers F moved 3 points clear at the top of Division 3 with a 7-3 win over Lions H.  Paula Le Ber continued her recent run of good form with victories over Dave Finn, Mike Lucas and Rob Vile.  She was backed up by averages-leader Joseph Bourgaize who beat Finn and Vile but was beaten in 3 games by Lucas.  4th Division reserve Corey Brouard stepped up well to record impressive wins over Finn and Vile.

2nd placed Whistlers E were narrowly beaten 6-4 by Ravenscroft Panthers B.  Shaun Mosley was the star on the night for Panthers with wins over Ian Fitchet, Charlotte Casey and Len Bretel and he teamed up with Peter Vivian to defeat Casey and Bretel in the doubles in a 5-game thriller.

Lions I have already sealed the Division 4 title but failed to win for only the second time this season after a draw with the young Whistlers J side.  Andy Ferbrache maintained his 100% winning record for Lions this season, but Corey Brouard and Matt Board both won two singles matches against Sue Ferbrache and Rosemary Powell while Alex Dekker picked up a win against Powell to seal the draw.

Division 5 remains the most closely fought of the five leagues as the two top teams both recorded comprehensive victories this week.  Leaders Lions L beat Whistlers M 7-3, with wins for Graham Mallett over Darren Sarre, Nathan Pinchemain and Josh Lewis.  Val Le Messurier also defeated Pinchemain and Lewis but was beaten by Sarre, while Derek Cave chipped in with a tight 5-game win over Pinchemain.

Rivals Whistlers O kept up the pressure with a 9-1 win over Whistlers K in a match that featured three players who have been selected for the upcoming Primary Schools International tournament next weekend.  One of these players, James Crocker, had a good evening with wins over Robert Naftel and one Freddie Walker but lost out to Guernsey team-mate Caden Brouard.  Ellis Tomlin and Shane Cotter picked up 3 wins apiece and teamed up to win the doubles encounter against Brouard and Walker.
