Brixham Sharks’ fine 9-1 win at bottom side Dawlish Aces puts them 5 points clear of Torbay Table Tennis Academy I team at the halfway stage of the season.  The Sharks easily saw off the challenge of the Aces strengthened team which included the father & son combination of Giles & Yannick Tushingham.  Jazmin Johns, and a fit again, Stam Kioufis, won their games for the Sharks while Yannick saved the whitewash for the Aces beating Chris Dunn.  The Academy side overcame the current league champions Batmen 6-4 with Kris Piwowar gaining another maximum, Batmen had the final say in the doubles though, with Shaun & Dennis Gibbs coming from behind to beat the previously undefeated pair of Piwowar & Patrik Cincala.  In an all-Brixham affair in mid-table, the Gulls defeated last years second division champions Trawlers 7-3, Mick Mercer & Joshua Millman securing maximums for the Gulls’ side.

Taverners lead Torbay Table Tennis Academy II by just one point in the 2^nd Division. Bishops Academicals 9-1 win over Torre 21 Up closes the gap on the top two. Marldon had a close encounter with Brixham Pirates, whose Brian Pengelly remained unbeaten, but was not enough against the all-round team effort from Marldon who won the last doubles to see them home 6-4. Don Beesley of Dawlish Diamonds was quick to point out the strengths of the Dawlish teams, with the Aces in Division 1 and his Diamonds in Division 2 holding up the rest, at the foot of those Divisions!  The Diamonds did however get their first points for 2 months in a 7-3 defeat at the hands of Brixham Swallows. Those 3 points nudged them closer to fellow strugglers Torre 21 Up.

Torbay Table Tennis Academy complete the hat trick of runners-up places in the 3^rd Division where they trail Marldon by 5 points.  The young and improving Academy teams are in good positions in all 3 divisions at the half way stage of the season.
