The Robert Excell Photography-sponsored South Devon & Torbay Table Tennis League

The game of the week pitched four top overseas players together as Brixham Sharks travelled to Torre to take on Torbay Acadamy I, and although personally Greece’s Stam Kioufis came out on top winning his 3 sets, the mixed nationality team of Kris & Jo Piwowar and Patrik Cincala ran out 7-3 victors to inflict the first defeat on the Sharks.  Batmen took advantage with a comfortable 8-2 win at Dawlish Aces to go to the top of the league. Halwell kept up their challenge with a fine 9-1 win at Newton Bishops. Brixham Trawlers, led by an Alan Maynard maximum, collected their first win of the season beating Battlers 7-3.

In Division 2 a strong start by Torbay Academy II beating the Brixham Pirates 8-2 will be a warning to the two Bishopsteignton sides at the top of the table.  Both Taverners and Bishops Academicals also won 8-2 against Marldon and Tykes: Colin Harrop  for Taverners and Kevin Stevenson for the Bishops both gaining maximums.  Alan Carthy, brought in to Brixham Swallows line-up, helped brush aside Torre 21Up 7-3.

The 3^rd Division early leaders are Torbay Academy III who defeated the Swifts and the Dolphins from Brixham 9-1 & 8-2; Jordan Hastie has yet to be beaten for the Academy side.  Hasbeens kept the pressure on the leaders with a 9-1 over Brixham Panthers and Marldon Badgers, also unbeaten, saw off Dawlish Dynamos 8-2.
