SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

The Albany Florists–sponsored South Devon & Torbay Table Tennis League saw big whitewash victories for the top sides in the First Division.  Favourites Torbay Academy 1, yet to drop a set this season, brushed aside their 2^nd team, whilst NA Batmen were comprehensive victors over Brixham Gulls, and Brixham Sharks thrashed Halwell.  In the remaining game NA Buzzards had a 6-0 lead over Dawlish Aces but the Aces came back to win 3 of the last 4 sets eventually going down 3-7. Kris Piwowar, Patrik Cincala, Daniel Barnett, Dennis Gibbs, Adam Shipway and Kevin Nicholls are yet to lose a match this season.

Torbay Academy 3, with victories over two tough opponents, have started their 2^nd Division campaign well, with Herbie Sage being unbeaten in the Academy’s  8-2 win over Battlers and their 6-4 win over NA Eagles.  Marldon came out on top in the village derby, defeating newly promoted Marldon Tykes 6-4, with Nigel Goodman unbeaten for Marldon.

Denbury Tykes, dropping down a division, have commenced their Division Three season in familiar fashion, a Pat Darch maximum helping them to a 7-3 win over fancied Torbay Academy 4.  NA Hawks’ Ben Swettenham and Doug Morgan were undefeated in their comfortable 9-1 win over Dawlish Diamonds.  Brixham Diamonds, with Keith Williams and Chris Meah in top form, defeated NA Falcons 7-3.

Torre and Torbay Academy teams battled out a win apiece, against each other in the 4^th Division. Torre Tigers, Jean Neafcy, Rob Burridge & Stephen Tucker, have started well, their latest win being a whitewash over Torbay Academy 6. Torbay Academy 5 also look good as they got revenge on Torre, defeating Torres R Us 9-1, with Harrison Grainger and Craig Collins undefeated for the Academy side. Sam Hiles recorded his first ever league maximum as NA Ospreys defeated Dawlish Drifters 10-0; Luke Robins and Dale Fabian were also unbeaten.
