PRESS REPORT – Sunday 16th Dec

Torbay Academy 1, catching up with their fixtures, have now hit their rightful place at the top of the First Division. The Academy showed their credentials in a double header with NA Condors, dropping just the one point in 20, with maximums for Kris Piwowar, Jakub Piwowar, Patrik Cincala, Lenard Hernandez and Warren Ngai.  Tussling for the runners-up spot, NA Buzzards, with a fine maximum from Kevin Nicholls, defeated Brixham Sharks 7-3, whilst NA Batmen Mike Kiff, Dennis and Shaun Gibbs, had a whitewash win at Brixham over the Gulls.

It is very tight at the top of the Second Division, as NA Eagles hang on by a single point. Torbay Academy 2, with Warren Ngai and Esme Suarez unbeaten, defeated Denbury Tykes 9-1 closing the gap as NA Eagles dropped points although defeating Brixham Trawlers 7-3. Ed Crawford took a maximum for the Eagles.  A Nicholas Shipley maximum kept Brixham Pirates in the hunt as they defeated Marldon 7-3.
  

Division 3 is even closer than the 2^nd Division as just 2 points separate the top three. The top two, level on points before they played each other, remain level on points as Torbay Academy 3 and Marldon Tykes played out a 5-5 draw, with Steve Tyler getting a maximum for the Tykes. NA Hawks closed the gap in third place, as Ben Swettenham and David Doxsey maximums helped them to a 9-1 win at Torbay Academy 4. Jamie McGuire and Liam Wall were unbeaten as Torbay Academy 5 beat Brixham Dolphins 7-3.  Dawlish Diamonds, back up to full strength, defeated NA Kestrels 9-1, and Bruce Freeman and Jim Saunders took maximums for the Diamonds.

A top of the table clash in the Fourth Division saw Hasbeens increase their lead at the top, but they could not defeat Torre Titans’ Chris Harper. Hasbeens won 6-4. Rob Burridge was man of the match as his Torre Panthers side defeated Dawlish Drifters 6-4.  The Drifters, playing twice in the week, suffered a second 6-4 defeat, this time losing out to an Alessandro Mitranescu-inspired Torbay Academy 6.  NA Kites, with Richard Salt and Josh Redfern in fine form, defeated Torre Tigers 8-2.

5^th Division leaders Torbay Academy 7 had the week off, while teams below had a busy week. Second-placed NA Ospreys closed the gap at the top with a draw against Brixham Seals, followed by a 7-3 win over club mates the Vultures. Rob Ferguson was unbeaten in both matches for the Ospreys.  David Olver and Chris Bishop had maximums for NA Merlins, as they picked up just their second win of the season, defeating Dawlish Delights 8-2.  Skipper Andy Guy was man of the match as NA Vultures shared the points with Brixham Swifts.
