Geoff Beavington
Popular stalwart of the Brixham Table Tennis Club, Geoff Beavington passed away last Thursday evening.
Geoff had been diagnosed with an aggressive lung cancer just recently and lost his battle at the Rowcroft Hospice.
Always a gentleman on and off the table, his unique brand of humour will be sorely missed.

A piece about Geoff will be added to the website in due course, along with funeral details.

Geoff Beavington’s funeral will be on Friday 5th October at 4:15pm at Torquay Crematorium.

The wake is at the Palace Hotel on the seafront in Paignton.

All are welcome and if anyone wants to make a donation, then there will be a collection box for the Rowcroft Hospice at the crematorium or at the Co-op Funeralcare on Dartmouth road in Paignton.

A piece from Brixham Chairman, Brian Pengelly

I first got to know Geoff when he first contacted me by phone saying he was thinking of moving down to the West Country and wanted to know how strong table tennis was in this area. That is an indication of how important to him table tennis was, and remained so, for all the years I was fortunate enough to know him. He became passionate about Brixham Table Tennis Club and became ‘Mr Dependable’, the ‘Rock’ of the club. If there was ever any problem with maintenance, or a player was needed to help out a team for a match in a higher division Geoff was ‘the man’. Even when he was not playing in a match for his team he would always be there to support his team-mates. Not only was he popular in his club, he was also highly thought of and respected throughout the league. He will be greatly and sadly missed.
