PRESS REPORT – Sunday 1st Dec
Leaders of the first division, NA Batmen, and NA Buzzards, in the runners up spot, had whitewash 10-0 victories over NA Eagles and Brixham Pirates respectively. The Batmen, Naomi Jackson, Dennis & Shaun Gibbs, were in control throughout just dropping three games. The Buzzards trio of Sonja Ryland, Nick Halse and Luke Bennett dropped just the one game in their encounter with the Pirates. Torbay Academy 1 with a fine 9-1 win over NA Condors keep in touch with the leaders, Jakub Piwowar and Patrik Cincala were unbeaten for the Academy. A Mick Mercer maximum for Brixham Gulls helped them overcome Halwell 7-3.
Luke Bennett & Nick Halse (NA Buzzards) V Nicholas & Stuart Shipley (Brixham Pirates)
Second division leaders NA Falcons lost their first match of the season to an Ian Saxby inspired Brixham Trawlers. Saxby had fine support from Alan Maynard and Nick Williamson as the Trawlers recovered from 1-3 down to win the last 6 sets to take the match 7-3. In a tight affair at Torbay Academy second placed Marldon went down 6-4 to the Academy’s second team, resulting in both Academy 3 & Marldon joining Brixham Trawlers all on 38 points just four points behind leaders NA Falcons. Marldon Tykes and NA Kestrels are still both searching for their first win as they shared the spoils at Marldon, Stephen Metcalfe with a fine maximum for the Tykes. Also sharing the points were NA Hawks and Taverners.
Brixham Trawlers – Alan Maynard, Nick Williamson, Ian Saxby
NA Owls hit the top of the third division with a 10-0 win at Brixham over the Dolphins, The young Owls, Josh Redfern, Rowan Bayliss and Matt Cyron, were always in control over the experienced Dolphins. A Steve Tucker maximum helped Torre Panthers defeat high flying Torbay Academy 4, 7-3. Brian Pengelly was unbeaten as his Brixham Seals secured a 6-4 victory over NA Kites. Neville Cregan and John Fowler picked up maximums as Torbay Academy 5 defeated NA Harriers 8-2.
NA Owls, Table Toppers – Josh Redfern, Rowan Bayliss, Matt Cyron
Table toppers in Division 4, The Grove were held to a draw by NA Vultures, David Pearson with a maximum for The Grove. Torbay Academy 6, Jerry Hollings, Jean Neafcy and Vic Bonfante, closed to within one point of the leaders with a whitewash victory over Dawlish Dynamos. Henry Greet was unbeaten for NA Ospreys as they drew at Dawlish against the Diamonds.
