PRESS REPORT – Sunday 17th Nov

NA Batmen lead the first division following an impressive whitewash over Halwell, Naomi Jackson, Dennis & Shaun Gibbs rarely troubled by the Halwell attack.  A Dan Webster-Hall maximum helped NA Eagles to a 7-3 win over Brixham Pirates.  Completing a good week for the Newton Abbot teams in the top flight, NA Condors defeated the Sharks of Brixham 7-3. Mark Burridge and Giles Tushingham with maximums for the Condors.

The leaders of the second division, NA Falcons, had the week off which gave Marldon the opportunity to close the gap at the top to five points with an impressive 9-1 victory over NA Hawks, both Helen Glover and Ed Thompson were undefeated for Marldon.  An Alessandro Mitranescu maximum helped Torbay Academy 3 to a narrow 6-4 victory over Brixham Trawlers. The Academy’s 2nd team, with both Ben Hoare and Matt Cooper going well, defeated NA Kestrels 8-2.

There was a terrific tussle at the top of the third division as the leaders Torre Titans failed to win for the first time this season. They were happy to come away from Newton Abbot with a share of the points as their 100% man, Chris Harper, was beaten twice. Tony Nguyen stepped up with a maximum to help the Titans secure the draw.  In another battle near the top of the table Torbay Academy 4 were beaten for the first time thanks to another fine maximum from the Hasbeens’ Alan Tyrrell, the Hasbeens narrowly winning 6-4.

There was also a top of the table clash in the fourth division as the leaders, The Grove, faced second placed Dawlish Diamonds. A Jeff Cornish maximum for the Grove helped inflict a first defeat on the Diamonds with the Totnes side winning 7-3. Torbay Academy 6 kept the pressure on the leaders recovering from 4-2 down to beat NA Ospreys 6-4. The points were shared at Torbay Academy as their 7^th team drew with NA Vultures.
