PRESS REPORT – Sunday 20th Oct
Torbay Academy 1’s 8-2 victory over Halwell increases their lead at the top of the First Division, Patrik Cincala and Warren Ngai picking up maximums for the Academy. There was a real tussle at Teign School between NA Eagles and Brixham Sharks with five sets being decided in the fifth game, Sharks eventually coming out 6-4 victors. Not so close was NA Condors whitewash victory over Brixham Pirates, David Davies, Giles Tushingham and Mark Burridge rarely in trouble against the Pirates.

It was Brixham against Newton Abbot again in the second division, an Ian Saxby maximum giving the Trawlers from Brixham the edge in a 6-4 victory over the Newton Abbot Hawks. There was a fine 9-1 win for NA Falcons over Torbay Academy 3. Ed Crawford & Chris Baron were unbeaten for the Falcons but the youngsters from the Academy pushed them all the way, Jamie McGuire collecting the Academy’s solitary point with an excellent win over Louis Wilshire.

Early pacesetters in the Third Division, NA Owls, had a real battle against Torbay Academy 5 to keep their winning run going. A David Crowley maximum for the Academy wasn’t quite enough as the Owls won the final doubles and took the match 6-4. Torre Titans, also with three wins from three matches, defeated club mates the Panthers 7-3 helped by another Chris Harper maximum. Craig Collins and David Rowsell were unbeaten as they eased Torbay Academy 4 to a 7-3 victory over NA Harriers. Brixham Seals helped by a Brian Pengelly maximum shared the points with the Hasbeens 5-5.

It looks like the Totnes based Grove team are going to be the ones to beat this season in the Fourth Division. They had another comfortable 8-2 win this week over Torbay Academy 7, David Pearson and Jeff Cornish unbeaten for the Totnes outfit. The youngsters from NA Ospreys had an excellent 9-1 win over the Brixham Swifts, Ben Pead and Henry Greet going well for the Ospreys. There was a maximum for Eve James as she helped her NA Merlins to an 8-2 win over club mates the Vultures. In an all Dawlish encounter the Diamonds defeated the Dynamos 9-1, Prabhu Kashap and Peter Curtis were unbeaten as the Diamonds cruised to victory.
