PRESS REPORT – Sunday 21st Nov

There were comfortable wins for the top two teams in the first division this week.  NA Batmen beat clubmates NA Eagles 8-1, father and son Gibbs, Dennis and Shaun with maximums for the Batmen. Father and son Burridge were in opposition with father Tim beating son Mark to claim the Eagles single point.  NA Buzzards closed the gap at the top on the Batmen with a 9-0 whitewash at Brixham over the Sharks, Herbie Sage, Lauren Loosemore and Kevin Nicholls were undefeated for the second week in a row.  Halwell A continued their impressive start to the new season with a 7-2 victory over Torbay Academy 1, Mick Mercer with a maximum for Halwell.  Another Dan Webster-Hall maximum, his 3^rd in a row, helped his NA Condors team to a 6-3 win over Halwell B.

The top match in the second division saw the two unbeaten teams confront each other in an excellent all out hitting contest. Torre Titans remain in top spot despite losing this encounter 7-2 to NA Owls. Giles Tushingham had to be at his best to defeat Christopher Harper and collect his maximum while the Cyron brothers Matt & Wojtek supported him well with two wins each. Brixham Trawlers had a busy week climbing the second division table with two fine victories.  An Ian Saxby maximum helped the Trawlers to a 5-4 victory at Taverners and they followed that up with an impressive all-round performance to defeat NA Falcons 6-3 despite an excellent maximum from the Falcons’ Jim McIvor.  Martin Sharp and Robert Johnston were in fine form as they helped Brixham Gulls to an impressive 8-1 victory over Torbay Academy 2.

Third Division leaders NA Hawks had a comfortable 9-0 win over Torbay Academy 3. Doug Morgan, Jackie Whitehorn and David Doxsey just dropping the one leg as they opened up a 3 point lead at the top of the table. Previous leaders NA Kestrels suffered a set back at the hands of clubmates the Ospreys. Excellent Henry Greet and Andrew Davies maximums surprising the Kestrels as the Ospreys took the match 6-3.

The impressive Torre Panthers saw off the challenge from the Grove, with Alan Tyrrell and Chris Garner maximums helping them to an 8-1 victory.   Jason Prescott again unbeaten for Dawlish was not enough to collect their first win, and they remain at the foot of the table, as they lost out 6-3 to Torbay Academy 4.

A whitewash victory for NA Kites, Derek Stratton, Ivor Copley and Joe Holmes, over stablemates the Merlins, took them to the top of the fourth division table, however their stay there will be short lived as the chasers Torbay Academy 5 and Torre Thunder have yet to be beaten and have games in hand.  NA Harriers’ Keith Haslam picked up another maximum at Brixham against the Seals to help the Harriers to a 6-3 win.  Andy Guy was again undefeated as his team, NA Vultures, narrowly lost out 5-4 against Torbay Academy 6.
