PRESS REPORT – Sunday 24^th Oct

NA Batmen suffered a surprise setback in their attempt to retain the first division title as they went down 8-1 to club mates the Buzzards. Lauren Loosemore, making her first appearance for the Buzzards, and Herbie Sage were unbeaten for the victors.  A Clive Banham maximum was not enough to secure victory for Brixham Sharks as they were defeated 5-4 by Halwell A. Young Ben Richmond, making his debut for Newton Abbot, was undefeated as he helped his Eagles team to a 6-3 victory over a weakened Halwell B. Daniel Webster-Hall, playing as well as ever, helped NA Condors to an excellent 5-4 win over Torbay Academy 1.

Torre Titans are the early pacesetters in the 2^nd Division following a fine 7-2 victory at Brixham over the Trawlers, Christopher Harper and Bill Keywood with maximums for the Torre side.  Taverners got their campaign off to a good start thanks mainly to a maximum from Martin Dilkes as they defeated Torbay Academy (3) 6-3.  In an all Newton Abbot affair the Falcons defeated the Raptors 8-1 but the match was much closer than the score suggests. Mike Dummett and Jim McIvor came away with maximums but both had to save match points, Quillan Wilson picked up the Raptors point.  Another Giles Tushingham maximum helped NA Owls through to a narrow 5-4 win at Brixham over the Gulls

Pacesetters Torre Titans – Bill Keywood, Christopher Harper, Tony Nguyen

NA Hawks’ 8-1 victory over Torbay Academy 4 sees them as early leaders of the 3rd Division, Doug Morgan & Jackie Whitehorn with maximums for the Hawks. NA Ospreys bounced back from their opening week defeat with a great victory at Totnes against the Grove, Henry Greet and Andrew Davies unbeaten for the Newton Abbot side.  An Elsa Perry maximum helped Torbay Academy (3) to a narrow 5-4 victory over NA Kestrels.

Yet to drop a set Torbay Academy 5 youngsters head the 4^th division table, William Whittington, Kai Fowler and Igor Sniegocki comfortable victors over NA Vultures although Katie Thain took them all to a 5^th set. Torre Thunder have also started their campaign well, their latest victory a 7-2 win over Brixham Seals, Robert Excell with another maximum for the Torre side.  Keith Haslam and his NA Harriers team also remain unbeaten, the latest win a narrow 5-4 victory over club colleagues the Kites.  An Ionel Ichim maximum helped his Torbay Academy 6 team defeat NA Merlins 5-4.
