PRESS REPORT – Sunday 19^th Feb 2023

Torbay Academy 1’s impressive 7-3 victory in the first division over NA Buzzards continues their fine run of victories, 10 from 10 this season, with another maximum from Toma Mitranescu who retains his personal 100% record.  NA Batmen’s 9-1 victory over club colleagues NA Condors moves them into the runners-up spot. Dennis and Shaun Gibbs were unbeaten for the Batmen. A Mick Mercer maximum for Halwell A helped them pick up their first win of the season at Brixham over the Sharks 6-4, lifting them off the foot of the table.

Toma Mitranescu & Adam Shipway (Torbay Academy 1) v Herbie Sage & Kevin Nicholls (NA Buzzards)

In the second division a couple of maximums from Torbay Academy’s Nicholas Shipley in an 8-2 win over NA Falcons and a 6-4 victory over NA Raptors have opened up a substantial 39 point lead at the top of the table.  Dawlish Aces defeated the struggling Taverners 9-1, both David Davies and Mark Sharratt were undefeated for the Aces.  There was a fine 7-3 win by NA Owls at Brixham over the Trawlers although none of the Owls managed to beat Ian Saxby who picked up all three of the Trawlers’ points.

Another Andy Millman maximum wasn’t quite enough for the win as his NA Kestrels side shared the points with Torbay Academy 4 in the third division. Natty Mitranescu and Robert Johnston were undefeated as Torbay Academy 5 defeated bottom of the table Torre Tornadoes 8-2. A Jackie Whitehorn maximum was not enough for victory as her NA Hawks team shared the points with clubmates NA Harriers.

Torbay Academy 5 – Ionel Ichim, Natty Mitranescu, Robert Johnston

Dawlish Renegades have opened up a significant lead at the top of the fourth division following two comfortable wins this week, firstly defeating their clubmates Dawlish Doubtfuls 9-1 then going on to defeat NA Ospreys 7-3. Pierre Doutreligne and Prabhu Kashap with maximums for the Renegades in both encounters. NA Ospreys had beaten Torbay Academy 7 earlier in the week with Ken Ramsden again undefeated as the Ospreys ran out 8-2 winners.  In an all Newton Abbot clash NA Merlins defeated NA Vultures 8-2, Nick Kitchen and Chris Bishop were undefeated for the Merlins.
