WEEK 6 Round up
Eastmoor C vs Barnsley
John, Paul Coletta and Charlie had the might of Barnsleys Ray, Stuart and Colin as opponents here. Without being rude I guess most observers would have predicted a 10-0 win for Barnsley and that’s precisely what happened for the loss of only a single set. So well done John in at least achieving that, no mean feat we all know. 0-10 to Barnsley
PWTT v Denhale
PWTT put out Lee, John and Kevin against Chow, Graham and Dave at a tropical Heckmondwike. The final scoreline of 9-1 doesn’t truly reflect the closeness of some of the matches but suffice to say Lee and John came away with 3 wins apiece, Kevin added 2 more and the two ‘wheelies’ combined to take the doubles. Chow secured the only win for Denhale and Dave produced some good table tennis and is showing a rapid improvement.
Eastmoor B vs Eastmoor A
Paul, Carl and Tyrone had clubmates Daniel, John and Chris to face here. Paul recovered nicely from a 2-1 deficit to take the next 2 sets and get the match off to a bright start. Son v Father next, and once again the older man came out on top over 5 tough sets. Tyrone then turned up the heat with a 3-1 win against Chris. Carls night got no better going down 3-0 to Daniel and this was followed by Paul losing to a resurgent Chris. Tyrone then bludgeoned his way past John and Paul combined with Carl to beat John and Chris to put the B team 4-3 up. Carl suffered again, losing to Chris 3-1 and Tyrone likewise losing to Daniel. Everything was now hinging on the last match of Paul and John. Paul dropped the first set but came back strongly to earn a share of the points. 5-5
WEEK 7
Denhale v Eastmoor C
Chow, Graham and Dave lined up against Charlie, PaulH and Anthony. Chow just got through against Charlie in 3 very close run sets and then a very much in form Graham gave Paul a going over to win that 3-0.Dave then scored his maiden victory beating Anthony 3-1, well done and hopefully the first of many. Next victim for Graham was Charlie, again dispatched 3-0 and Chow dished out the same treatment to Dave. Anthony put up a good fight against Paul as Eastmoor got their first win of the encounter and the doubles then went the way of Graham and Chow over Paul and Charlie. Graham completed his trio of wins easing past Anthony and then Eastmoor responded with Charlie beating a determined Dave and Paul recovering from 2-1 down to Chow to take the 5th 12-10 and secure a precious point. 7-3 to Denhale.
PWTT v Eastmoor A
PWTT put out Lee, Nicky and Kevin against Chris, John and Paul. Lee and Chris dished out a plethora of shots at each other over 5 tough sets with Lee winning the last one 11-7. Nicky handled the pimples of John adeptly to secure a 3-1 win but Kev found Paul a little too hot going down 3-0. Nicky then fairly hammered his way past Chris leaving Lee to face Paul next. This went to 5 sets again but sadly for Lee the last set score was reversed, Paul winning 11-7. Kev won the first set against John but then failed to hang on to the advantage he had in the following three sets as doughty John refused to bow out and he took all 3 of them 12-10. At 3-3 the doubles were played, Kev and Lee just squeezing past Paul and Chris. Nicky and Paul put on a great display with Nicky getting the better of it over 5 sets. Kevs miserable night continued with a 3-0 loss to Chris leaving Lee and John to finish the vital last match up. Lee managed to secure the extra point for a 6-4 win.
Barnsley v Eastmoor B
Stuart, Ray and Colin had Paul, David and Tyrone as visitors. Stuart eased past Paul and Ray did likewise beating Dave. Colin then lost the 1st set to Tyrone but recovered to win the next 3. Remarkably Ray was then taken to a 5th set by Paul, he won that but it was a close run thing. Stuart beat Tyrone and a 3rd point was secured when Colin beat Dave. The doubles quickly followed the same pattern and Ray made sure of maximum points with a win against Tyrone. Colin overcame Paul and finally Stuart beat Dave for a comfortable 10-0 win
