WEEK 8
Denhale v Eastmoor A
Chow, Graham and Dave were faced with Paul, Chris and substitute Tyrone. Chow and Paul shared 4 very closely fought sets with Paul just edging it. Graham and Chris then had an even closer encounter but after 4 tight sets Chris ran away with the 5th. Dave started brightly against Tyrone but couldn’t maintain that form losing the next 2 more easily. Graham coped quite well with Paul but couldn’t convert his good play into a win in any of the sets and Chow found Tyrones hitting too tough to counter going down 3-1. Ace doubles pair Chow and Graham scrapped through against Chris and Paul to score a notable 3-2 win. Graham then had another 5 set battle against Tyrone and came out the winner in this one. Dave found ‘spinny’ Paul too difficult and finally Chow lost to Chris leaving the match score 2-8
Eastmoor B v Eastmoor C
PaulA, Carl and Tyrone had clubmates John, PaulC and Charlie as opponents here. PaulA got the hosts off to a good start beating John in 3 sets, and Carl dished out the same treatment to PaulC. Tyrone beat Charlie and Carl eased past John. After PaulA had recovered from losing the first set to Tyrone to take the next 3 and Tyrone had beaten PaulC the win was assured and just the hope to secure the 4th point remained. Carl and PaulA came out on top in the doubles and Carl wrapped all the points up but only after 5 gruelling sets with Charlie. Tyrone and Paul A then completed the match with further win for a resounding 10-0 win
PWTT v Barnsley
Nicky Kevin and Roger were up against the formidable Steve, Ray and Colin. Nicky recovered from a first set loss to beat Steve 3-1 but Kevin had to give best to an inspired Ray who hit winners from all angles. Roger couldn’t handle Colins all round game and Kevin suffered a second loss on the night this time to Steve. Nicky kept the match alive with another 3-1 win this one over Colin but Roger had no answer to the power and guile of Ray. Leaving the doubles to last Kev went on against Colin for match 8 and after coming back from 2-0 down he could quite keep the winning momentum losing 3-2. Roger found Steve to be way too good and Nicky fought hard against Ray but came away losing 3-0. The double offered PWWTT the chance of a point but Ray and Steve were simply too strong beating Kev and Nicky 3-1.score 2-8 to Barnsley
