WEEK 2 Round up
PWTT v Eastmoor A
Lee, Kevin and Nicky came up against rivals Chris, John and Graham,
Lee came up against an inspired Chris in the first match and try as he might he couldn’t stop him as he thundered shot after shot across the net. Kevin and John were very evenly matched but Kevs all round extra power allowed him to take each set by the odd point. Nicky and Graham had another ding dong battle with winners galore but Nicky outlasted Graham to take it in the 5th. Kevin found Chris too hot to handle as Chris made it 2-2. However that was the end of the good news for Eastmoor as the following 6 encounters all went the way of their opponents, a lot of really tight sets but everything falling in PWTTs favour. 8-2 wion
Eastmoor C v Denhale
Paul Haycock, Paul Colletta and John Murgatroyd played against Chow Graham and last minute substitute Paul Aldcroft. 3 Pauls in one match?, too much.
To summarise Paul Haycock lost 2 and won 1 of his 3 singles but each one went into a 5th set, losing from 2-0 up, winning from 2-0 down and a loss in an otherwise equal match up.
His win over Graham proved to be the only 1 of the night for Eastmoor. The other Paul and John fought hard but were overwhelmed but their opponents. Chow and Paul Aldcroft returning 3 wins each and Graham 2, plus the doubles for a 9-1 Denhale victory.
Eastmoor B v Barnsley
Paul, Carl and Tyrone faced the might of Barnsley represented by Stuart, Ray and Colin.
Paul looked like he had the opportunity to get Eastmoor off to an excellent start when he went 2-1 up against Stuart but he couldn’t maintain that and lost in the 5th. Ray and Colin eased to straight sets wins over Carl and Tyrone, and Struart also beat Carl. Colin then put on the evening best performance beating Paul 3-0. Ray overcame Tyrone and Stuart and Colin scrapped to a 5th set doubles win against Tyrone and Paul. Thereafter Colin had to fight again against Carl getting this done in the 5th. Stuart beat Tyrone and Ray beat Paul 3-1. 0-10
