Mad Batters | Tony's Troopers | 14 - 29 |
Division 1 saw this year’s newcomers, White Horse, face tough opposition when Minehead A visited them this week. The home team struggled to get going but it was Ian Rew who finally broke through, scoring 5 out of the 7 points for the home team. No points were added in the doubles games to add to their total. Toby Kerslake led the onslaught with an unopposed maximum, earning him player of the match. Joe Camp also scored a maximum with Dave Veale adding an excellent 8 points. The maximum score of 9 points in the doubles gave Minehead a final score of 35 points to move themselves into second spot in the league table.
Division 2 saw a clash between the two teams currently at the top of the table, when Mad Batters entertained Tony’s Troopers. At the start of the match Mad Batters were ahead by only 4 points so the pressure was on for both teams to produce a good result. Batters made a good start with Jamie Short winning the first game. In total Jamie scored 6 points, with Trevor Short and Hamish Cuthbertson adding 3 points apiece. With only 2 doubles points Mad Batters ended the match with a total of 14 points. From the faltering start, Tony rallied his Troopers and they soon hit top form. Sifa Vea was player of the match after scoring the only maximum of the evening. Chris Wickham added 6 and Tony Burrows 5 singles points. But it was in the doubles that Troopers overpowered the opposition by scoring a full 9 doubles points. The final score for Troopers was 29 points which means all change at the top of the table as Tony’s Troopers now storm into the Division 2 top spot and now lead Mad Batters by 11 points.
