Division 1
White Horse were on home turf again as they kicked off the match week against Basement Dwellers. David Bryant was in the saddle for the home team as he top-scored with 6 singles sets, with Andy Godfrey coming home with one final singles set. Jamie Robertson helped his teammates in the doubles to secure a total of4 sets, giving White Horse a closing score of 11 points.
Basement Dwellers were first out of the stalls as they proceeded to extend their lead throughout proceedings. Mike Vickery won the player of the match award for his unopposed maximum, and was well supported by Kerry Manicom with 7 singles sets, and Jasper Pye with 6. Basement Dwellers edged out their opponents in the doubles to win 6 sets, and secure the victory with a total of 28 points.
Division 2
Hawks put on a splendid performance in their quest for division 2 glory when they entertained Roy’s Boys. Mark Scyner was flying high and managed to attain a maximum in the singles after a 5-set thriller against Barry Hooper. Mark was rewarded with the player of the match award. Alfie and Nathaniel Southam both played well and added 7 and 5 singles sets respectively. With a maximum in the doubles, Hawks achieved their goal of the week by soaring to the top of the division with their score of 30 on the night.
For Roy’s Boys, Barry Hooper was the stand-out player. After missing out in the final set of the singles against Mark Scyner, Barry top-scored for the visitors with 8 sets. Charlie Bond added the remaining 4 singles sets before Roy Hooper joined his teammates in the doubles to help win 4 sets. Roy’s Boys ended the evening with 16 points.
