Tanworth Pasties suffered an unfortunate 4-6 reverse against visiting Astwood Bank yesterday evening ( October 2nd ) more encouraging, however, on his formal first-team debut, was the performance of county ranked youngster Ben Rycroft - Stanley.
Bens hat-trick of wins was all the Pasties could muster, apart from a solitary success for Mike Evetts, although it was a close run affair in the doubles, after the Pasties pairing of Stanley and Evetts, despite leading 10-6 in the 5th, lost the set 14-12 to veteran campaigners Jim Connor and David Wood.
Both Connor and Wood with two wins each, plus a victory for Nigel Anson against Jason Rainey, was enough to give Bank the win, in exactly the same scoreline as the first fixture of the Winter, in the 16/17 season.
