Beaumont Accountancy Nomad A's chances of catching Ormesby A at the top of Division 1 of the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League received a set back last week when they were held to a 5-5 draw by Nunthorpe A.
For Nunthorpe A, Dave Pashley did most of the damage, scoring a hat trick whilst Barbara Kearney and David Williams won one each.
The match was a close fought contest, David Pashley's hat trick was scored with a very narrow victory over Kevin Linsley at 12-10 in the decider after Linsley had won his first match against Williams by 11-9 in the decider. Pashley also beat Ian Plummer 11-8 in the deciding game. For Beaumont, Kevin Linsley and Ian Plummer both won two and combined to win the doubles.
Nunthorpe A also played a good match against Northfield A winning by 7 sets to 3, with a hat trick from Nicky Corking and two wins each for David Williams and Mike Fenby. David Drummond produced most of the opposition for Northfield A by beating Mike Fenby and David Williams.
These results leave Ormesby A at the top of the table with 80 points from 11 matches, whilst Beaumont Nomads are second with 67 from 11. Strong contenders for honours remain Hartlepool Westbourne A who have 53 from 9.
