Beaumont B improved their position at the top of the Cleveland and District Summer Table Tennis League last week, when they defeated Ormesby D by 10 sets to 0 in a match that was as convincing as the score line suggests.
Geoff Howe, Barry Pearson and Bruce Lowther all scored hat tricks. The only set to need four games was when Lowther lost the second game to Alan Heppell.
Beaumont B's closest rivals, Westbourne B, dropped four points when visiting Ormesby D due to two wins from Tom Hand and one from Keith Lewis plus the doubles winning the match by 6 sets to 4. Andy Greason, for Westbourne B, was the star of the match scoring a hat trick, while Lee Kelly won two. The closest win was for Ormesby D when Keith Lewis beat Roy Horseman after trailing by 2 games to 1. Lewis won the fourth game 12-10 and the decider at 11-8.
The team in third place Nunthorpe B, kept their interest in the Championship race with a 10-0 victory over Ormesby Hopes C team with hat tricks from Barbara Kearney, Glyn Robinson and John Goulding.
Ormesby D who are in contention with having one match in hand, lost ground with their defeat to Westbourne B.
