MATCH REPORTS WEEKENDING 14 JUNE 2019

With a hat trick from Jimmy Scope, Westbourne A produced one of the best performances of the season to hold the current leaders, Ormesby A, to a 5-5 draw in the First Division of the Cleveland & District Table Tennis Summer League last week.

Scope scored his hat tricks with straight game wins over Michael Young and Ryan Nassau whilst beating Karl Shaw by 3 games to 1.  Phil Webster and Keith Robinson built on Scopes performance with victories over Nassau to clinch the draw.  For Ormesby, Young and Shaw both scored two although Shaw’s victory over Keith Robinson was only by 13-11 in the decider.  In a second close match that went Robinsons way when he beat Nassau by the same score.

This result helped Beaumont A to close the gap at the top of the table with Ormesby A when they beat the Ormesby B team by 7-3.

For Ormesby William Lim was the star of this match scoring a hat trick while Steve Baines, Kevin Linsley and Peter Abell all won two for Beaumont.  Lim’s hat trick included coming back from 2-1 down against Linsley to win 11-8 in the fifth. The doubles was also a very close contest and the Beaumont pair of Linsley and Abell beat Lim and Edward Adams 11-9 in the fifth.

Ormesby A still have a substantial lead at the top of the table with 40 points from five matches, with Beaumont A the closest at 9 points behind.  Westbourne A have 24 points but have a match in hand.
