Ormesby A continued to make progress with their defence of the title in the Cleveland and District Summer Table Tennis League when they entertained Northfield A and won by 9 sets to 1 in last week’s fixtures.

Michael Young and Karl Shaw both scored two each for Ormesby A while Gary Whyman won one being defeated by Tom Webster.  Northfield A only had  two players

The two teams in contention with Ormesby A, Beaumont A and Westbourne A played a close match which was won 6-4 by Beaumont.  Kevin Linsley was the star of the match scoring a hat trick while Stephen Baines won two.  The closest set was Linsley’s win against Jimmy Scope.  Scope was winning by two games to one, before Linsley won the fourth at 15-13 and the decider at 12-10.  Phil Webster was the best player for Westbourne with wins over Stuart Park and Stephen Baines. 

The 5-5 draw was played between Nunthorpe A and Ormesby B.  William Lim was the star of this match, scoring a hat trick for Ormesby while Glenn Hodgson was the best Nunthorpe player on show with two wins.  Lim’s hat trick was achieved with a five set victory over Mike Fenby by 13-11 in the deciding game.  
Edward Adams did well for Ormesby to beat Mike Fenby in another match that was deuce in the fifth.  Eve Witterick won one for Ormesby against David Williams, which was also very close in the deciding game.  Glenn Hodgson’s two victories for Nunthorpe were by comfortable margins.

Westbourne A improved their position in the League table with a 7-3 victory over Ormesby B.  Jimmy Scope was the best player on show with a hat trick while Tony Langley won two.  Lim was the best player for Ormesby winning two of his three sets.

Ormesby A lead the table with 35 points from 4 matches, while Beaumont B are in second with 24.  Westbourne are in the frame with 19 points with a match in hand.
