Beaumont Nomads B improved their chances of winning Division 2 of the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League when they scored a maximum win over Ormesby C in last weeks fixtures.
The win for Beaumont B at 10-0 was achieved with hat tricks from Barry Pearson, Malcolm Noble and Peter Ling. The victory for Beaumont was as comfortable as the score line suggests with all ten sets being won in straight games.
Another team in contention for the title, Nunthorpe B, who currently head the table, kept their hopes alive with a 10-0 victory over Ormesby Hopes C team, with Barbara Kearney, Bob Evans and David Hildreth all scoring hat tricks. Like the Beaumont B match this fixture was as comfortable as the score line suggests.
The third team in contention Hartlepool Westbourne B dropped two points when entertaining Ormesby D despite hat tricks from Lee Kelly and Gary Pearson. Tom Hand won one set against Jason Lloyd. This match was much closer with Lee Kelly winning two of his sets in the deciding game, the set against Tom Hand by just 12-10.
Nunthorpe top the table with 126 points from 16 matches. Beaumont B and Westbourne B have the benefit of a match in hand with Beaumont B 124 from 15 matches and Westbourne B 119 also from 15.
With two weeks of the season remaining the title race is almost certain to go to the wire.
