Two matches postponed from earlier in season were played this week in Division One of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League, Both matches involved Cwmbran Colts who called upon a couple of guest players to ensure completion of the fixtures. In their match against Cwmbran Blues they went down 14-19 despite a player of the match performance from Lee Thomas with 3 wins. For the Blues Mark Farrow David Lloyd and Roger Grech all won 2 matches to maintain their outside chance of the title. They are currently 13 points behind YMCA Preachers and 13 points ahead of Bristol Nomads who have a game in hand over both their rivals.
In the Colts other match they played Blaenavon Aces, the side they are chasing to avoid finishing bottom of the division. However, their fate was probably sealed when they went down 14 - 23 to the Aces. Both sides included guest players including Nigel Gore, making a welcome return to league table tennis for the Colts and marked his return by picking up 6 points for his team. The Aces were able to call upon Claire Flannagan and she produced her 7th player of the match performance of the season to guide her adopted side to victory. She was closely followed by Eric Turner who also won his 3 matches for the Aces.
