Cwmbran Aztecs are the new champions of Division One of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League. Congratulations to the Aztecs team of Tony Collins, Mark Edmunds and Andrew Ryder on winning the title for the first time since the 2011-12 season. Their win was confirmed when they beat Cardiff Nomads in their penultimate match this week by 24-13. Player of the match was Mark Edmunds with three wins and he was well supported by Tony Collins who also had maximum wins and Andrew Ryder with one win. For the Nomads there were wins for Peter Gordon and Geoff Strangeway.

 

Blaenavon Aces maintained their challenge for third place with a 18-12 win over Cwmbran Tigers. Player of the match was the Aces' Jon Allen with maximum wins and he was well supported by Ben Allen with two wins. For the Tigers, Jeraze Dhanbhoora and Roshan Rai picked up one win each and guest player Eric Turner had two wins including a very good win over the highly ranked Ben Allen. 

In Division Two, Cwmbran Eccentrics extended their lead at the top to eleven points with one match remaining. In their latest match the Eccentrics beat Cwmbran Fellows 25-5 with player of the match John Thomas picking up maximum wins. Thomas was well supported by Lincoln Alford, also with three wins and guest player Howard Gaut with two wins. For the Fellows, who were without their number one player, Wayne Ford, guest player Yuri Cherkasenko collected their solitary win.

 Chasing the Eccentrics are North Gwent Cougars who beat Cwmbran Dynamos 20-15 in their latest match. Player of the match was the Cougars' Michel Policht with three wins and he was well supported by Sam Slatter with two wins and Jon Deacon with one win. For the Dynamos their were two wins for Alex Jones and a win for Richard Lownsbrough.

The final match in Division Two saw Cwmbran Lions beat Cwmbran Devils 22-12. Player of the match was the Lions' John Williams with three wins and he was well supported by guest player Star Limbu with one win and seven points. However the best result of the night goes to the Lions' Dan Tagean whose two wins included a straight sets win over the higher ranked Stan Williams.  For the Devils there were wins each for Williams, Finley McNeil and guest player Sunam Rai.
