Match Report - Week 5 - November 8th 2017
Premier Division
Assassins lose 6-4 to leaders Hang Em High who go four points clear. This was despite a treble for the only unbeaten player in the premier division, junior Keigo Burnham.
A really close match and matches. Two wins for Hang Em High’s Michael Bridger and Graham Carter with one for Andrew Sharland. With the game at stake Michael Bridger and Graham Carter defeated Keigo Burnham and Ben Worley in the doubles to win overall 6-4. For Assassins a treble for Keigo Burnham including a thrilling 11-9 five setter win over Michael Bridger. Plus an 11-9 in the fifth win for Ben Worley over Andrew Sharland. Third player Charlie Hough just missed out. On an interesting point Assassins Keigo, Ben and Charlie are all under sixteen and all play for Haywards Heath in the British National League.
Another win for Ping Panthers who defeated Bullets 7-3. A treble for Alan Stone, two for John Strang ad one for Lynne Trussell. Lynne combined with Alan Stone to also win the doubles. For Bullets one win each for Joel Del Santos, Frederic Bodeau and John Burnham.
A fair five all draw was the result of the match between Game Changers and Dynamos. For Game Changers Tomas Pomej it was a treble in his first game this season plus two for Jim Skinner to make the five games While for Dynamos it was two wins for Richard Cosens plus one for Matthew Caddy and Dennis Hayden with the doubles for Richard Cosens and Matthew Caddy for Dynamos five.
Division One
St Andrews keep the lead in this division with a 7-3 win over Lindfield Thunderbolts.
For St Andrews Stuart Vincent who leads the division averages, the only treble of the night e was followed by Terry Dean with two and Darius Mayhew with one. Stuart and Terry combined to win the doubles.
Thunderbolts Jim Griffin won two singles and team mate Andy Steel chipped in with one.
Spin Masters recorded their first win of the season in defeating Paddlers 6-4. For Spin Masters, Juniors Tommy Worley a treble and Riccardo Bagaini two. Tommy and Riccardo paired up to defeat Paddlers Samantha Stoner and Cathy Seiderer to win the doubles and with it the match. For Paddlers two wins apiece for Cathy Seiderer and Phil Harvey.
A real battle between X Men and Bashers with nine of the eleven games going to four and five sets saw X Men coming out winners six games to four. For X Men it was two apiece for Peter Caddy and Peter Dunsby and one for Tom Christophersen with the doubles to win the match going to Peter Caddy and Tom Christophersen over brothers Oliver and Patrick Neil. For Bashers man of the match John Bridger with three wins and Oliver Neil with one.
Division Two
Leaders Magiks appear to be going straight back to division one with a 10-0 win over a two man Pingwins team.
Two wins and a walkover for Tony Turk (who leads the player averages in this division) two wins and a walkover also for Mel Sims and Kevin Deacon with Tony and Mel winning the doubles.
A 9-1 win for Burning Rubber over Dangermen saw trebles for Steve Lee and Blake Davies with Gavin Pitts winning two then combining with Blake to win the doubles. Dangermen’s Tony Pells won one to spare his team the whitewash.
An unusual match saw both Smashing Pumpkins and Cutting edge with only two players in each team and Cutting Edge coming away 6-3 winners, For Cutting Edge two plus a walkover for David Polhill, one win and a walkover for Dan Polhill and the doubles for Davis and Dan. For Smashing Pumpkins a win for Oliver Howard plus two walkovers,
Blade Runners dropped a point with Swifts as they could only turn out with two players.
For Blade Runners Malcolm Norwood and Keith Johnson with hard fought trebles and a five setter win in the doubles.
For Swifts a walkover win for Emily Dunsby, Georgie Hough and Claudia Hough plus a thrilling 11-6 loss in the doubles for Emily and Claudia. Final score 7-3 to Blade Runners
