Table Tennis Report Number 8

 

Premier Division

Big Shocks in the premier this week proving the total strength of this division. Leaders Hang Em High go down 7-3 to St Andrews. Hang Em High saw leading players John Strang and Michael Bridger both losing two each with Graham Carter unable two get on the win line in the singles despite a real battle with Terry Dean going down in the fifth. In the doubles Graham and Michael salvaged a point by defeating Terry Dean and Brandon Bennett in the doubles. For St Andrews it was three fantastic wins apiece for both Michael Robinson and Brandon Bennett with both players playing with great determination. For third player Terry Dean one win. This match sees only one point between the two leading teams.

With Ping Panthers defeating White Lines by the same 7-3 score line it was three for Marc Burman, two for Sam Clarke and one for Lynne Trussell with Marc and Lynne taking the points in the doubles. For White Lines it was a team effort with a win apiece for Sally Hughes, Stuart Brooks and Joe Comper.

Again the same 7-3 score in the match between Assassins and Dark Horses. For Assassins trebles plus the doubles for Ben Worley and Keigo Burnham with third player Charlie Hough losing all but getting back into form. For Dark Horses one each for Viv Cole, Steven Ive and Ross Knowlson.

Final premier game saw the only maximum points win as Dynamos defeated Game Changers 8-2. For Dynamos it was a treble for Matthew Caddy with two each for Richard Cosens and Richard Caddy with Matthew and Richard also taking the doubles. For Game Changers Fawzi Yousif and Jim Skinner both had one win.

 

Division One

Top of the division Lindfield Thunderbolts took a 9-1 win against Magiks who’s Tone Turk was the only player with a win defeating David Metcalfe in five. Thunderbolts Jim Griffin, Jeff Briggs both with trebles and David Metcalfe two. Jim Griffin and Jeff Triggs defeated Mel Sims and Tony Turk in the doubles.

Sadly for second placed Spin Masters they could only field two players and went down 7-3 to X Men. For X Men two wins and a walkover Angus Ogg, a win and a walkover for Peter Caddy, a walkover for Tom Christophersen plus the doubles for Peter Caddy and Angus Ogg. For Spin Masters two wins for Riccardo Bagaini and one win for Claudio Bagaini.

Burning Rubber came away 7-3 winners verses Mavericks who could only field two players. Burning Rubbers Thomas Bradshaw, two plus a walkover, Gavin Pitts a win and a walkover and Steven Lee a win plus walkover For Mavericks two for Darius Mayhew who combined with Peter Dunsby to win the doubles for a point.

Happy Days defeated One Hit Wonders 8-2. Three apiece for Samantha Stoner and Cathy Seiderer who also won the doubles. For One Hit Wonders two wins for Frank Hanley.

 

Division Two

Other maximum points win for leaders Pingwins over Blade Runners. For Pingwins trebles for David Polhill and Paul Lewis with Oliver Cattermole winning two which was just as well as Paul and Oliver lost the doubles in the 8-2 win. For Blade Runners Annick Lieutaud with the one singles win plus an exciting doubles win with Keith Johnson in the fifth.

Second placed Dangermen defeated Smashing Pumpkins 10-0 Trebles all round plus the doubles for Tony Pells, Colin Cooper and Peter Vincent.

A 7-3 for Swifts over Mad Batters which takes them to fifth place in division two. For Swifts it was two apiece plus the doubles with Emily Dunsby, Chloe Robinson and Claudia Hough. Emily and Claudia combined to defeat Mad Batters Johnny Griffiths and Danielle Sensier in the doubles. For Mad Batters Johnny Griffiths was the star in winning all three singles. Brian Taite.
