Premier Division
What a finish, what an Unbelievable Finale, what a boys own ending to the last premier game of the season
Assassin’s juniors Keigo Burnham, Ben Worley and Charlie Hough two points behind the leaders Hang Em High who had three of the top senior players in the league Andrew Sharland, Michael Bridger and Graham Carter needed to win 10-0.
To Dream the impossible dream etc. On paper an impossible task. But!!
Keigo Burnham defeated Andrew Sharland, Graham Carter and Michael Bridger. Ben Worley defeated Andrew Sharland, Graham Carter and Michael Bridger. Charlie Hough defeated Andrew Sharland and Graham Carter but in the final game of the evening he was two sets down to Michael Bridger and the title looked lost but Charlie came back to win the final three sets 12-10, 12-10, 12-10.
With the title lost and nothing at stake Hang Em Hi conceded the doubles. Final score 10-0 to Assassins. Both teams finishing on 56 points with Assassins winning by 178 sets to Hang Em High 175 sets over the season.
Ping Panthers defeated a two man team of Bullets 8-2. Trebles including a walkover for Marc Burman and John Strang with two for Lynne Trussell. For Bullets a win for David Champneys plus a doubles win with John Burnham.
Dynamos won 7-3 over a two man team of Game Changers. Three including the walkover for Matthew Caddy, two for Richard Cosens including a walkover and a walkover for Peter Caddy with Matthew and Richard winning the doubles. For Game Changers. Two for Jim Skinner and one for Angus Ogg.
Division One
Owing to the structure of the league, Divisions one and two have one more league match to play.
The clash between the top two teams St Andrews and Dark Horses resulted in a 6-4 win to St Andrews.
St Andrews top two players, Terry Dean and Stuart Vincent both with trebles are ready for premier play next season.
Dark Horses Viv Cole, Ross Knowlson and Ben Freeman held their own and hold hopes for a wild card into the premier next season.
Paddlers defeated Lindfield Thunderbolts 7-3 thanks to exciting trebles from both Samantha Stoner and Peter Dunsby. Peter and Samantha combined to win the doubles.
For Thunderbolts it was a win each for Jim Griffin, Vincent L’Estrange and Andy Steel.
An all round team effort saw Bashers defeat Spin Masters 6-4. Two for John Bridger and Oliver Neil plus one from Patrick Neil with brothers Oliver and Patrick winning the doubles.
For Spin Masters two apiece for father and son Claudio and Riccardo Bagaini.
Division Two
Top team Magiks defeated Swifts 9-1 but comment from Magiks, this team have improved so much in one season and the score line tells the wrong story.
Trebles for Magiks Kevin Deacon and Tony Turk with two for Alistair Blue. In the doubles Tony Turk and Alistair Blue defeated Alanna Blain and Claudia Hough 11-7 in the fifth set.
For Swifts Alanna Blain defeated Alistair Blue..
A good 7-3 win for Dangermen over the two person team of Blade Runners saw two plus a walkover from Tony Pells, one plus a walkover for Colin Cooper and a walkover for Ron Bailham with Ron and Tony winning the doubles. For Blade Runners two wins for Annick Lieutaud plus one win for Malcolm Norwood.
A 10-0 win for Pingwins over Smashing Pumpkins with trebles all round for Rupert Browning. Adam Wiseman and Paul Lewis with Rupert and Paul winning the doubles.
Burning Rubbers defeated cutting edge 7-3 in a very competitive match. Burning Rubbers Steve Lee and Gavin Pitts with trebles plus pairing up to win the doubles. For Oscar Wiseman, Dan Polhill and David Polhill of Cutting Edge it was one win each.
