Table Tennis New Season Match 3
Premier Division
Despite close matches with four and five setters Ping Panthers remain top after beating Dynamos 9-1.
Panthers Marc Burman and Tomas Pomej were in fine form winning three apiece with third player Lynne Trussell winning two then combining with Tomas Pomej to defeat Dynamos Richard Cosens and Dennis Hayden in the doubles. For Dynamos the lone win came from Richard Cosens who defeated Lynn Trussell 11-8 in the fifth.
Hang Em High one point behind are in second place also winning 9-1 against Game Changers. County Junior John Strang winning his three singles over Fawzi Yousif, Mike Day and Costas Kynacou in straight sets with senior Michael Bridger also with a treble and Andrew Sharland winning two. Michael and Andrew went on to defeat Game Changers in the doubles. For Game Changers Fawzi Yousif was the lone winner, defeating Andrew Sharland 11-7 in the fifth set.
Assassins dropped a point in their match with White Lines. Ben Worley was player of the match with three wins, Keigo Burnham with two and David Champneys with one. Ben and David came out top in the doubles.
For White Lines Sally Hughes caused the shock of the match by inflicting a rare defeat on Keigo Burnham Sally also defeated David Champneys. White Lines Graham Beaney with one win helped his team to a valuable point.
Two teams just up from Div One St Andrews and Dark Horses clashed with St Andrews coming out on top 9-1.
For St Andrews, Michael Robinson and Stuart Vincent trebles and Terry Dean two wins.
For Dark Horses a good win for Viv Cole over Terry Dean.
Division One
After three matches it is level pegging at the top for Lindfield Thunderbolts and Mavericks on eight points with both teams held to a five all result this week.
For Thunderbolts two wins each for Jim Griffin and Jeff Briggs plus one for David Metcalfe for their five all result.
While for Spin Masters, Paul Brinkhurst starred with a treble in the singles plus the doubles with Riccardo Bagaini who had a singles win for their five wins...
One Hit Wonders drew five all with Mavericks.
One Hit’s draw came from a treble from Bob Hoare and two from Frank Hanley.
For Mavericks it was two wins for Darius Mayhew plus one apiece from John Bridger and Jim Allum with Darius Mayhew and John Bridger winning the doubles.
X Men with Peter Dunsby, Peter Caddy and Angus Ogg came away 6-4winners over Burning Rubbers David Polhill, Steve Lee and Gavin Pitts. For X Men it was three for Angus Ogg, two for Peter Caddy with Angus and Peter Caddy taking the doubles.
For Burning Rubbers two for Steve Lee plus one for David Polhill and Gavin Pitts.
A 6-4 result for Magiks over Happy Days with two for Mel Sims, two for Kevin Deacon and one for Tony Turk. Mel Sims and Kevin Deacon went on to win the doubles.
For Happy Days despite the only treble Samantha Stoner ended up on the losing side. Phil Harvey for Happy Days won one.
Division Two
Only two matches played in Div Two this week with a bye and a postponement.
Pingwins lead this division by four points following a 10-0 win over Smashing Pumpkins.
It was three all round for Pingwins Rupert Browning, Paul Lewis and Oliver Cattermole with Rupert Browning and Paul Lewis also winning the doubles.
Smashing Pumpkins Simon Howard, Matt Stevens and Oliver Howard found the opposition too strong.
Mad Batters also proved too strong for New Avengers, winning 9-1.
For Mad Batters Trebles for junior Johnny Griffiths and veteran Lyle Cyster plus two for eleven year old Arthur Sharland. Johnny Griffiths and Lyle Cyster also won the doubles
For New Avengers the lone winner in the singles was Prevesh Ramnath.
Owing to the hall not available there will be no league matches results for two weeks.
