Match Report - Week 13 - January 30th 2019

Table Tennis Report number 13 

Premier Division 

Easy 9-1 win for leaders Hang Em High over Dark Horses. Again leaders made a slip in the doubles as Viv Cole and Steven Ive of Dark Horses defeated Michael Bridger and Graham Carter to take the doubles and avoid a whitewash. For Hang Em High, it was three all round for Michael Bridger, Graham Carter and John Strang. 

Assassins move up to second place with a surprising maximum points win over second placed Ping Panthers. For Assassins it was two each for David Champneys and Ben Worley with Ben and David winning the doubles over Lynne Trussell and Marc Burman. Player of the night was Assassins junior Keigo Burnham who again won all three singles in straight sets including the leagues singles champion Marc Burman 11-3. 11-7. 11-2. If will be very interesting to see if Marc can be toppled from his position as ten years league champion in this years Championships. For Opponents Ping Panthers it was two for Marc Burman. 

The heat is on for this season’s runner up as only two points spilt the second three teams Assassins, Ping Panthers and St Andrews. This week St Andrews defeated Dynamos 6-4 with Michael Robinson a treble, plus back in action Stuart Vincent with two and third player Terry Dean combining with Michael Robinson for a match winning doubles in the fifth set against Dynamos Dennis Hayden and Richard Cosens. For Dynamos two wins for Richard Cosens plus one apiece for Dennis Hayden and Richard Caddy. 

The only draw this week was between White Lines and Game Changers. For White Lines Sally Hughes it was three plus the doubles with Stuart Brooks who won one. For Game Changers two wins for Fawzi Yousif and Rayar Jean Angelus with one win for Michael Day. 

 

Division One 

Ten-zero was the outcome of the match between division leaders Lindfield Thunderbolts over Happy Days with trebles all round for Jim Griffin, David Metcalfe and Jeff Triggs with Jim and Jeff winning the doubles. Close games for no reward for Happy Days Cathy Seiderer, Samantha Stoner and Phil Harvey. 

Spin Masters keep second spot with a 7-3 win over Mavericks. Team effort with two each from Riccardo Bagaini, Claudio Bagaini and Tommy Worley. Tommy and Riccardo took the doubles over Mavericks Ian Saunders and Nikita Kalyazin. For Mavericks two for Nikita Kalyazin and one for Ian Saunders, 

Another win for One Hit Wonders with trebles for Robert Hoare and Frank Hanley. Robert Hoare combined with third player Alanna Blain to defeat Gavin Pitts and Blake Davies in the doubles to give their team a 7-3 victory. For Burning Rubber it was one each for Gavin Pitts, Steve Lee and Blake Davies. 

Maximum points win for X Men with a treble from Tom Christophersen and Peter Caddy plus one for Peter Dunsby. Peter Caddy and Tom Christophersen won the doubles for the 8-2 win
For Magiks Mel Sims and Kevin Deacon won one each.

 

Division Two 

Leaders Pingwins had a bye this week giving other teams to battle for the runners up spot. Dangermen defeated Blade Runners 9-1. Trebles for David Polhill and Tony Pells with Colin Cooper two. Colin and David defeated Annick Lieutaud and Keith Johnson in the doubles. While for Blade Runners the lone winner was Keith Johnson.

Also with maximum points Mad Batters defeated Smashing Pumpkins 8-2. A treble from Lyle Cyster and two each from Arthur Sharland and Johnny Griffiths with Lyle and Johnny winning the doubles. For Pumpkins it was two for Oliver Howard. 

A close 6-4 result saw New Avengers coming on top of Swifts. For New Avengers Robert Goff it was three with Prevesh Ramnath winning two then both combined to win the doubles. For Swifts an excellent two from Emily Dunsby and one each for Chloe Robinson and Claudia Hough.
