Week 13 Report 2018-19

Week 17 report – 18 January 2019

Smugglers are determined to put pressure on the division 1 leaders.  This week Herons were on the wrong end of a 10-0 result, with Messrs Hedge, Babulik and Thomas all in imperious form.  There were plenty of good rallies, and the 10-0 did not tell the whole story - but the result sent a strong message.

Sadly for Smugglers, Misfits were in no mood to give ground. Peter Kneil and Martyn Beer were both undefeated while Keith le Milliere added two points in their 9-1 victory over Balls of Fury.  Marcus Berry picked up the consolation point.

It was a week without close results – Spin Doctors were surprisingly not too troubled by McDonalds and co.  Captain Michael Sussex showed the way with three wins, ably supported by Dave Ewen and Dave Morgan. James Raymont fought a strong rear-guard action to gain the Mcs two points.  The other two scores in the division were also 8-2s. Unfortunately, it was the two Chulmleigh teams that were on the wrong side of the two matches.  Chulmleigh A were beaten by Holsworthy A, for whom Steve Cragg and Dave Salisbury were in fine fettle and undefeated. The 'B' team lost to Nets and Edges by the same score with Dave Streak and Martin Eyles maintaining their percentages with three wins each.

It looks like the title will be between Smugglers and Misfits, while third and fourth places will be fought over by Spin Doctors, Nets and Edges, Holsworthy B and McDonalds and Co.

Holsworthy D are looking increasingly strong in division 2 having opened up a 20 point lead over second placed Holsworthy B. However, the leaders were made to struggle by Paddlers. Tim Cooke was top scorer keeping up his high win percentage.  Ashley Taylor and Nathan Jukes won two each for the leaders.

Doug Genini and Jeremy Rickman had productive evenings against The Vice, each notching up three wins. Jeremy had to hold his nerve to win two of his matches in the fifth - one 12-10 the other 11-9!

Alan Briggs enjoyed his evening against Dolphins. TSTP won 7-3, with Alan's three points joined by doubles from Jai and Dave Moore.

The remaining division 2 results were not available at the time of writing.
