JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT DIVISION 2 –09.02.19 - DAY 3

CLEEVE PARK C EXTEND THEIR LEAD AT THE TOP

Day 3 saw Cleeve Park C sitting comfortably at the head of the table on 18 with Darenth B just three points behind but four clear of Tandridge B.   South Croydon B had nine, Amherst B five and Amherst C two.   

Round 5

Cleeve Park C (Emir Hamad/Tayo Hing) defeated South Croydon B (Ethan Sun/Evelyn Lippett) 5-0 while the Darenth B pair of Alexander Papadopoulos and debutant Ben Honey also won 5-0 against Amherst C, Lois Mugford and debutante Isabel Morris.   Honey had to work hard to beat Morris 14-12, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9 to keep a clean sheet.   Tandridge B (Prentice Bradford/Alex Griffin) defeated Amherst B (Alex Roberts-Hutcheson/Jake Adams) 4-1 with Roberts-Hutcheson preventing the whitewash by beating Griffin 12-10, 12-10, 11-7.

The table therefore hadn’t changed much after Round 5.   Cleeve Park C led on 23, Darenth B remained three points behind but now five points clear of Tandridge B.   South Croydon B remained on nine, Amherst B had six and Amherst C two.

Round 6

There were more high score results in this Round.   Leaders Cleeve Park C (Hing/Hamad) had a harder time of it against the second placed team Darenth B (Papadopoulos/Honey) where three sets went to four games but Cleeve Park still managed to post a full house.

Tandridge B (Griffin/Bradford) likewise had to work a bit more to beat South Croydon B (Lippett/Sun) where they were taken to a fourth game in two sets.   Amherst C (Mugford/Mais) took a set from Amherst B (Roberts-Hutcheson/Adams) and also two further sets to four games.

At the end of the meeting Cleeve Park C had extended their lead to 28 points with Darenth B and Tandridge B tying on 20 apiece in second place.   Amherst B have moved above South Croydon B into fourth place, one ahead of them.   Amherst C have increased their tally to three.
