Match Report

The 3 wise men of West CAC travelled to Durham to take on the mighty Magic, who were represented by Jeff McKenna, Ross Clennell and the player known as the great Dan Hutchinson, what a man.

The 1st set saw Jeff beat Chainsaw Kelly in 3 ends, and then Dan after losing the 1st end to The Yorkshire Terrier showed his class by winning the next 3 ends, what a man. Old Wino Whitwham rolled the years back to overcome Ross 3-0 despite the Magic player fighting all the way. Dan again showed why he is feared by all of us lesser mortals by beating Chainsaw in 3 straight games, he then teamed up with Ross in the doubles to overcome Chainsaw and that Wino in a hard 5 ender, which could have gone to either team, but the home side took the last end 11-9, well done Dan and Ross.

When Jeff saw off the Old man it looked bleak for the West team, but only for them to win 4 of the last 5 sets and to make the final score look descent. When the wonderful Dan played the Old has been and taking the 1st two ends, he was given a shock when Wino played some of his best shots to go down fighting 17-15 in the 3rd game, thank goodness, I did not want to see Dan cry if he was beaten over 5 ends.

Chainsaw won against Ross and The Yorkshire Terrier had a very good result against Jeff in the last set of the night, so well played both teams and a good 6-4 win for Magic.

The Player of the Match was Dan the Man, so well played Mr Hutchinson, and to Ross I say keep playing and you will come good one day and thanks to Magic for a good match.

Gan Canny,

Alan, who proves that age is no barrier in table tennis, Whitwham.
