Warwickshire Veterans(promoted last season) secured their place in Division 2A of the County Championship for a second season after a tough second weekend of matches at Halifax.

After losing 3-7 to Essex 2 in their first match, Warwickshire's squad of Dawn Sagoo, Mark Jackson, Mike Browne and Simon Griew scored a vital 7-3 victory over Yorkshire 4 after at one stage trailing 2-3 to ease fears of being caught up in a relegation struggle.

In their third match, Warwickshire drew 5-5 with Cheshire 2 to ensure they could not be caught by any of the sides below irrespective of what might happen in the final round of matches.

The final match ended in an 8-2 defeat against Bedfordshire 1 after losing out in several extremely close deciding set encounters .
