Warwickshire Over 60's enjoyed a highly competitive weekend at Draycott last week as they played the first three matches of their campaign in Division 1A of the County Championship. Firstly, Warwickshire overcame Bedfordshire 8-2, before sharing the spoils 5-5 against close rivals Worcestershire, and finally just losing 4-6 against a strong Yorkshire 2 side who remained unbeaten over the weekend and who won the division last season.
No. 1 Pat Glynn was in excellent form throughout, winning all his singles matches, and combining with Phil Paine to gain some crucial mens doubles victories in all three matches, whilst Paine lent vital support in winning won four of his six singles playing at no. 2.
John Taylor contributed a useful singles success against Bedfordshire, and was unfortunate to miss out in a five set thriller against Doug Bartle in the Yorkshire match, whilst Marion Dixon partnered Glynn to victory in two of their three mixed doubles encounters and one with John Taylor as well.
