Roger Chipperfield

Roger Chipperfield

It is with great sadness Dean has just told us that after a short illness, Roger Chipperfield passed away at 5pm on Sunday, 28th April.

He is having a pure cremation so no funeral or wake.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time.

Roger Chipperfield started playing as a Junior having been coached by Harry Venner but stopped in 1960 only to resume some 20 years later. Where he proceeded to play for Nomads, Goodies, Blau Knox and Parkwood before eventually joining Chatham TTC in 1999 where he played for the last 25 years.

Not only was Roger a more than capable player but was also a valued coach and committee member over many years. He volunteered his coaching skills at various Primary School clubs where he introduced Table Tennis to hundreds of children, many of whom later played in the league.

The highlight of Roger’s career was when he coached the Pilgrim Girls School team to the National U11 title and then following this achievement received the TTE Coach of the Year award in 2017.
