The November meeting was held at the Table Tennis Centre (Deemon Dance Studios) on Monday 3rd. All clubs were represented. The main item of discussion was the future of the Centenary Cup. There had been several comments and proposals via email and Facebook. It was generally felt that the league should not let the event die off but should look at a way to keep it running as a Handicap Doubles event. Of the proposals most were in favour of Nick Woods idea of playing a 3 player team with 3 combinations of doubles. This would still mean a match of 9 rubbers. It was hoped that with teams of 3 the number of teams entered would increase.
The Chairman suggested that this proposal was brought to the next AGM and something put in place for next season. However, a proposal from John Harrison (FCC) to call an SGM to vote on the proposal received a good response. This could mean that the competition can still take place this season.
The SGM was arranged for Monday 1st December 7.30pm at the Table Tennis Centre. All registered members may attend and vote.
New Signings - Les Shaw, Alan Bell, Chris Whitehouse, Ray Adams and Bob Cook for Hawcoat Park. Emma McDonald for Furness CC.
After some discussion it was voted that Andrew Murphy of Hawcoat Park "B" should be a starred player meaning he is ineligible to play up.
Furness CC requested that visiting teams and players arrive as early as possible to the Table Tennis Centre for their Division Two matches as some matches have finished early when playing on two tables.
Tony Galloway informed the meeting that the details of Handicaps and the Draw for the Tom Dixon Cup (Singles team handicap competition) would be sent out as soon as possible.
The draw for the Centre 100 Club was made with the winners as follows - £100 - P. Tyson, £50 - Joanne Walker, £25 - Stephen Cairns.
