Top Barrow Junior, Sophie Ackred, made her third appearance for England at  the Senior Schools' International in June. The Chetwynde School pupil travelled to Ireland to play at the University of Galway against teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

She was part of a squad that collected 26 medals with Sophie gaining medals in both the team and individual events. The England B team of Sophie Ackred and Kelly Ng claimed the Silver medal by winning all of their other games. They beat Ireland A 4-1, Guernsey 5-0, Scotland B 5-0, Wales 4-1, Scotland 4-1 and lost to England A 0-5.

In the Under 14 Girls Individual event, Sophie defeated Kelly Ng in straight sets in the quarter final but was beaten in three sets by the eventual champion, Nichole Lee of Scotland in the semi finals, to take Bronze.
