Bolton News 9th February

As league matches began again after a two week break for cup matches, in the Premier Division the two top teams and rivals Ramsbottom A and Flixton A continue to milk as many points as they can from their opposition. Ramsbottom A won against Radcliffe CC 8-1 care of Andrew Jackson (2) Michael Moir and Mark Ramsbottom with Zac Cantor saving the whitewash and top of the division Flixton hammered a Burning Desire 9-0 care of Philip Bowen, Stephen Scowcroft and Paul Cicchelli. A closer encounter saw Wharton beat Ladybridge 6-3 with the help of a treble from Barry Elliot. Hilton A took on Flixton CC B 8-1 with trebles from Mark Gibson and Andrew Michnowiec.

Things were not all that much tighter in Division One with three 8-1 wins. Heaton A beat Hilton C with trebles from Matthew and Paul Ward. Top of the division Coburg A took out Little Lever B with trebles from Robert Bent and Derek Watmough and Nomads B overcame Hilton D with trebles from John Aberra and Tim Vaughan. A tighter match saw Coburg B having a narrow win over Farnworth Social Circle A 5-4 with John Hutchinson providing the main resistance with a treble. Another close result saw Wingates outdo Harper Brass A 5-4 thanks to a treble by Dave Smith.

In Division Two things were much tighter as is usually the case with the central divisions. Heaton B had a 5-4 win away to Hilton E, David Hall with the treble. Harper Brass B won against a Farnworth Social Circle two man team 6-3. Meadow Ben A took out Top Spinners 7-2 with Dave Holden trebling and James Storey providing the two game resistance for the Spinners. Division leaders Ramsbottom D lashed Hilton F 8-1 with trebles from David Cain and Martin Ormsby. Matthew Kennedy provided the one game resistance for Hilton.
