Bolton News 27 November

Two weeks ago in the Premier Division of the Bolton and District Table Tennis League, Ramsbottom Town A had points taken from them by Nomads. Last week it was the turn of Flixton Cricket Club A. Flixton beat them  Nomads by 21 points to 13 with a nine from Stephen Scowcroft. However, Ramsbottom beat Hilton A 25 – 9 with nines from Richard Lightowler and Andrew Jackson, enabling them to nose in front in the tables by four points. Now in third place,  Flixton Cricket Club B had a good 26 – 8 win over bottom of the table Hilton B with nines from Anthony Bates and John Potts. Closer scores had fourth-placed Ramsbottom B being beaten at home 19 – 15 by Radcliffe Cricket Club and mid-table Warton met Little Lever A just below them, Wharton winning out 21 – 15 with a nine from Barry Elliott.

Division One leaders Burning Desire stormed on with a full points 27 – 5 win over Wingates. Wigan TTC eleven points behind them also amassed full points with the same score over Hilton D. Third-placed Polonia Club A just dropped one point as they brushed Meadow Ben A aside 26 - 9 with nines from Lukasz Serdiuk and Dawid Kakol. Fourth-placed Ramsbottom Town D also succeeded with a 24 – 14 score over Heaton Cricket Club A despite a resisting nine from David Hall. Mid-table Coburg had a 23-10 win over Little Lever B now two places below them with Chris Naylor and Kevin Chapman both on nines. A mid-table clash had a two-man Farnworth Social Circle A with a 17-14 win over Hilton C with the expected nine from John Hutchinson.

Top of Division Two, Hilton E in a home Derby hammered their bottom of the table F team 27-0. Second-placed Bolton TTC didn’t have it all their own way as they were just pipped 19 – 18 by third-placed St. Paul’s Peel with the usual nine from Lee Devenport. Heaton Cricket Club B in fourth place had a 21 – 10 win over Farnworth Social Circle B assisted by a nine from David Jones. Fifth-placed Meadow Ben B beat Ladybridge B 22 – 14 with a nine from Mike Heaton. Second from the bottom, Walkden Methodists had their third win of the season as they beat mid-table Hilton Top Spinners 19 – 15 despite a resisting nine from David Clay. A mid-table clash saw Polonia Club B overcome  Brasszone 22-11 assisted by nine from Vojtech Sanc.

It was a similar story in Division Three as Meadow Hill A, now going top, had no mercy for their own B team lying at the bottom as they overpowered them 27 – 0. Second-placed Meadow Ben C were pulled up short a somewhat when they met ninth-placed Farnworth Social Circle D ending with an 18 – 18 draw. Third-placed Farnworth Social Circle C had a good 26 – 6 win over second from the bottom junior team Hilton I helped by nines from Christopher Lord and Ben Wyatt. A two-man Irlam Steel Social Club in fourth place went down 18 – 15 to Hilton H. Fifth-placed Meadow Ben D overcame Albany 17 – 14 helped by a nine from Neil Cowburn. Mid-table team Hilton G beat Ladybridge C five places below them 24 – 11 with nines from Dimitar Petrov and Martyn Rolling.
