In the second week of play in the Bolton and District Table Tennis League, the Premier Division’s Ramsbottom Town A had a comfortable win over Wharton 21-13 with a maximum nine points from Michael Moir. Ramsbottom B just beat Flixton Cricket Club A 19-15 largely due to nine points from last year’s new acquisition Ryan Choong. Hilton A had a good win over Radcliffe Cricket Club 22-12 with nines from Robert Hall and Andrew Michnowiec. However, newly promoted Hilton B went down 23-8 to Little Lever Cricket Club A with Graham Jeffries and Ron Durose on top scores. Nomads overshadowed Ladybridge A 24-5 with nines from Kyan Chin and Charles Musa. Due to a rather late discovery that the Ramsbottom room had been taken over for a music festival, the C team’s match against Flixton Cricket Club B would have to be postponed into one of the following three weeks. If unplayed, the result will be decided in Committee.
In Division One, Burning desire pressed on for a return to the Premier division with a 25-9 win over Ramsbottom Town D with nines from Brett Haslam and Ben Armstrong. New team Wigan TTC made their presence felt by beating Heaton Cricket Club A 24-4 with nines from Paul Clark and Daniel Watkinson. Farnworth Social Circle A beat a two-man Wingates 24-7. Closer results had Coburg overcoming Hilton C 23-12 with nines from Chris Naylor and Derek Watmough and Meadow Ben A beat Hilton D 20-12 helped by a nine from Stephen Jones. Newly promoted Polonia Club A had their second win 20-17 over Little Lever Cricket Club B helped by nine from Lukasz Serdiuk.
Apart from Division Two’s Bolton TTC who beat Hilton F with a maximum 27-4 score, the other results were quite close. Hilton E beat Brasszone 22-11 despite a resisting nine from Jim Bolton. Heaton Cricket Club B had a 22-13 win over newly promoted Walkden Methodists assisted by a nine from David Jones. New team Polonia Club B beat Farnworth Social Circle B 20-13 with a nine from Vojtech Sanc. Meadow Ben B just pipped St. Pauls Peel 19-18 despite an expected resisting nine from Lee Devenport and Hilton Top Spinners just cleared Ladybridge C 18-17.
Division Three’s Polonia Club C march on with a 25-7 win over Hilton H with nines from Karolina Mucha and Henryk Michalowski. Juniors Hilton I fared better with a 17-14 win over Meadow Hill B. Relegated Farnworth Social Circle C had their second win 19-13 over Meadow Ben D with nines from Christopher Lord and Dave Rogers while their two-man D team lost out 18-11 to Albany although Farnworth’s new addition Elena Cecilia Tepelus held the fort with a nine. Meadow Ben C overcame Hilton G 19-11 despite a resisting nine from Dimitar Petrov. Meadow Hill A just pipped Irlam Steel Social Club 17-16 with Irlam’s David Yates putting up strong resistance with a nine.
