Senior League 2020-21 Week 3
 

Division 1

 

Lions A made it 3 wins out of 3 after battling past Lions B 6-4. Ben Foss and Ryan Bichard each picked up singles wins over Dawn Morgan and Andre De Carteret and they also combined well to win the doubles rubber against the same duo in straight sets. Jamie Ferbrache picked up the decisive 6th win when he fought back from 2-1 down to defeat De Carteret over the full 5 set distance. Phil Ogier was unbeaten for his side as he picked up straight sets wins over Bichard and Ferbrache as well as an excellent 4 set win over the previously unbeaten Foss. Morgan added a further straight sets win over Ferbrache.

Whistlers A are a single point behind the league leaders after they defeated Lions C 7-3. Lawrence Stacey led the way strongly with a trio of straight sets wins over the previously unbeaten Paul Hainsworth, Sam Clark and reserve Jez Powell. Matt Casey also performed well and added straight sets wins over Clark and Powell, whilst Ryan Gilson added a hard fought 5 set win over Clark in the opening game of the match. Stacey and Gilson combined to win the doubles against Hainsworth and Clark in 5 sets. Hainsworth defeated Casey in straight sets and Gilson in 4 sets, whilst Powell added a straight sets win over Gilson.

Whistlers B picked up their first victory of the season courtesy of a 9-1 win over Lions D. Josh Stacey, Ellis Tomlin and Ben Sharp all defeated Steve Ozanne, Charlotte Casey and reserve Jonah Ingrouille in singles action. Ozanne came the closest to picking up a win during his 5 set defeat to Tomlin. The Lions side restored some pride due to the 5 set doubles win for Ozanne and Casey over Tomlin and Sharp.

 

Division 2

Whistlers D have a 2 point lead at the top of the second Division and made it 4 consecutive wins this week after overcoming St Pauls A 8-2. Martin Sarre performed well for his side with 4 set wins over Tim Le Page and Maurice James and a straight sets win over Trevor Bourgaize. Craig Dunning added wins over Bourgaize in 4 sets and James in straight sets, whilst Paula Le Ber defeated James in 5 sets and Le Page in straight sets. Sarre and Dunning combined to win the doubles encounter over James and Bourgaize in straight sets. For the St Pauls side, Le Page picked up a straight sets win over Dunning, whilst Bourgaize overcame Le Ber in 4 sets.

 

Division 3

Ravenscroft Panthers D and Whistlers G each lead the way with 4 consecutive wins apiece thus far this season.

The Panthers side romped past Lions H 9-1 in a match which saw Shaun Mosley and Steve Martin unbeaten. Each defeated Mike Brehaut and Dave Finn in singles action. Mark Windsor picked up a straight sets win over Finn, but was defeated by Brehaut in 4 sets. The doubles match was won by Martin and Windsor in 4 sets against Brehaut and Finn. The Panthers side picked up 3 matches via walkover.

The Whistlers side ran out 8-2 winners over Ravenscroft Panthers C this week. Ken Falla led the way with singles wins over Mick Ingrouille, Melissa Johns and Brandon Ferbrache, but needed to come back from 2-0 down to beat Ferbrache. Erik Teteruck and Max Burrows added wins over Ingrouille and Johns, but each lost to Ferbrache. Falla and Teteruck defeated Ferbrache and Johns in 5 sets in the doubles clash.

Division 4

Lions J hold a 2 point lead at the top after they edged past Ravenscroft Panthers E 6-4 this week. Lionel Jones, Graham Mallett and Derek Cave each picked up singles wins over Tia Timms and Huxley Le Conte, but none were able to defeat Shelby Timms who won all of her matches for the defeated side. This included a doubles success alongside sister Tia over Jones and Mallett in 5 sets.
