WEEK FIVE

In the first division Amlwch B won their first game of the season at the expense of the previously unbeaten Trinity AStuart Dearden, the Trinity captain won each of his ties dropping only one game to Reg John. However, this was not enough Reg beat both Eddie Chan and Alan Hopper and Mathew Winnett beat Alan 11-3 in the fifth. In a fine team effort Jason Coe won five games and Emyr Owen played in the doubles with Reg to secure a victory by three games to one. Police A also won their first game by beating winless Henllan A 26-14. The strongest player on the evening was Brian Cooke who won each of ties including the doubles with Roger LeeMelvyn Booker lost two five-game thrillers and Henllan’s best performer was Paul Hulmewho beat both James Wan and Roger Lee

In the second division Rhyl B lead by twenty points following 30-3 victory over Y Morfa B. Captain Chris Markey secured his maximum and did not drop a game in the doubles with his partner John Hughes. John only dropped one game and Fred Moore two in the fixture. Craig-y-don A remain second in the table and is unbeaten overcoming third-placed Henllan B 21-15. This was despite Chris Watkins representing Henllan Bwinning all her ties. The pick of her wins was 12-10 fifth game result against Tom Bird. But a fine team effort with Bob Hughes winning seven games and Ged Haresnape six secured the Craig-y-don A win. Trinity Bare up to fourth due to a 25-9 win against Rhyl CElliot Godard won each match but was pushed to a fifth-game decider by Rhyl B’s Colin Bliss.  Colin beat both Andrew Chamberlian and Robert Stewart. The closest second division fixture witnessed Police B beat Craig-y-don B 20-16. In the battle between the two strongest players Stan Wan, representing Police B beat Billy Hayes 11-8 in the fifth. The other five-game match went the way of Craig-y-don B, with David Roe beating Alan Lavery 11-6.
