NEWS - WEEK NINE

In the first division, Amlwch A move further ahead at the top following a 29-8 victory over Henllan AIan Ault secured a maximum for the islanders. Unbeaten Paul Collins was blown away in the opening two games by Paul Hulme 11-4 and 11-3, but he changed things up to win comfortably over five games. Jonny Hughes performed a similar feat coming in from two games down to beat Keith Williams in a five-game thriller.

Police A remain second this week beating Llandudno 23-14. No one player dominated all the Police A players won two of their singles matches this was matched by Andy Lunt for the visitors. The closest match of the night witnessed Roger Lee beat Graham Heath in a five-game encounter.

Rhyl B beat Craig-y-don A 23-14 despite Tom Bird winning all three of his singles matches, the highlight a tight five-game victory at the expense of John HughesBarrie Russ and Chris Markey also won their other two singles matches.  The closest of these was a five-game win by Chris Markey at the expense of Ross Lander.

In the second division, Amlwch B are running away with the division at the halfway stage despite still needing to fulfil two fixtures. This week they beat Henllan C 28-6. Andrew Lloyd completed yet another maximum and in the game of the night/season saw Reg John beat Josh Parry 20-18 in a fantastic fifth game decider. Josh Parry gained some compensation through beating Ben Sutclffe in three straight games. Josh Williams on his league debut for Henllan C will have easier nights going forward.  

Y Morfa B presently lie second following a narrow 18-16 victory over Rhyl CDave Meadows led the way with a fine maximum. He teamed up with Mike Trbojevic to land the doubles in three straight games. In the standout encounter Taylor Tabner beat Mike Trbojevic 12-10 in the fifth game decider.

Third placed Trinity B were outpointed by Henllan B 15-26. Harold Furber won each of his singles matches but was pushed to a fifth game by Rob Stewart. All of Chris Watkins matches went to a fifth game but she lost each of these battles. Rob Stewart also had a night of five game matches, and he prevented Iain MacGillivray winning his third singles match.

The two bottom teams in the division met and the honours went to Amlwch C 18-16 at the expense of Craig-y-don C. Emyr Owen secured a maximum. Deio Rogers has yet to win a match this season, but he came mightily close here, losing out to both Dave Strange and Bill Wells in five-game tussles. Charlie Hadcock chipped in with two wins but went down 12-14 to Ged Haresnape in yet another five-game match.
